AS the title suggests I'm wondering does the HDMI port work with the DVI and Displayport in use?
I've just got my VTX3D 8650, wooping £157. All my monitors are VGA so I was hoping that I could use 3 DVI > VGA adaptors and my DP > VGA to create my eyefinity group. I didn't even think it would cause me any issues do I didn't even brother searching for issues with the cards etc etc.
Turns out one of the DVI port gives of some signal that doesn't work with DVI>VGA adaptors. Which I found out the hardway, and maybe £157 out of pocket. No way on earth can I go back to dual screens, and I don't even have the funds to afford this card let alone start buying new monitors.
I'm hoping that I'd be able to get a HDMI>VGA cable/adaptor and use it that way. But not sure is the HDMI will work, as it didn't on the 5xxx series.
Thanks for any helps
Edit: Well after spends 20 minutes or so on the phone to several local computer stores, turns out there is no such thing as a HDMI>VGA. Anyone have any suggestions apart from update my monitors? :(
:doh
8650 eyefinity with DVI > HDMI > DP ?
Re: 8650 eyefinity with DVI > HDMI > DP ?
I assume you meant 2x DVI - VGA adapters + 1 DP - VGA adapter?
First I've heard of this issue as well, (and it took a bit of googling to find any other reference.) Most DVI ports are DVI-I, which is digital + analog. Seems AMD cheaped out on the 6850's and only used a single-link DVI-D (digital only) for the top connector according to this article:

Seems the 6870 is the same way. There's a second mini-DP on that though, so you could use a second DP->VGA adapter if you can upgrade your card.
