New driver is up and it seems there is extended Eyefinity support in them, including linux support:
New Windows Features
Highlights of the ATI Catalyst™ 10.7 release for Microsoft Windows include:
ATI Eyefinity Technology – Enhancements for HydraVision™
* Maximizing a window across multiple displays will now take user defined bezel compensation into account
* Automatically adjusts window position when dragging and dropping windows to ensure title bar visibility
* Proper dialog box placement – dialogs do not cross displays, are not hidden behind bezels, and can be designated to be shown on the users “preferred” display
Enhanced Pull-down detection
* The Pull-down detection algorithm has been enhanced for higher visual quality on certain types of video content
* Supported on the ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 Series of GPUs
ATI CrossFireX™ technology – support for rotated displays
* This release of ATI Catalyst™ enables end users running supported ATI CrossFireX™ configurations to rotate their displays (single or ATI Eyefinity display configurations) and still enjoy the performance benefits of ATI CrossFireX™ technology
ATI Radeon™ GPU acceleration of VLC 1.1.1 Media Player
* Enables GPU acceleration of h.264 video content when using the VLC 1.1.1 Media Player – enabling a better user experience by consuming less system resources
* Supported on the ATI Radeon™ HD 5000 and ATI Radeon™ HD 4000 Series of GPU products
* Requires VLC version 1.1.1 and later
Highlights of the ATI Catalyst™ driver for Linux 10.7 release include:
Support for new Linux operating systems
* This release of ATI Catalyst™ driver for Linux introduces support for the following new operating systems:
o Ubuntu 10.04 production support
ATI Eyefinity support
* ATI Catalyst™ driver for Linux 10.7 provides support for ATI Eyefinity technology under all supported Linux distributions

Don't forget the new profiles as well, found here:

They are for single cards as well, though it says crossfire.
Here's rage3d's testing of the new features compared to last release:

I can confirm that 5x1 portrait eyefinity is still not working
I joined the forum just say this lol I've been waiting since may, i am really disappointed. I am starting to think they faked the 5x1 portrait at the computex with SOFTTH...
who's with me?

-did not relax bezel compensation rules for differing panel sizes (even if same res)

Eh, still no 5x1 Portrait. It's pointless to me.

Here's 10.8 beta 5 if you want to give it a shot: :)

Thanks Tamlin, will report back.
EDIT1: completely no sign of 5x1 Portrait.
EDIT 2: I found something interesting in the FaQ.
Is the 5 x 1 configuration supported?
5x1 configurations are currently not supported. AMD is working on support for 5 monitor configurations which we plan to enable through a future ATI Catalyst™ driver update.
This is what we have known, except that they keep showing new videos of games running in 5x1 Portrait.
But this is what I found most interesting because it's false:
Can individual monitors be configured in a combination of portrait and landscape?
...Systems using multiple ATI Radeon™ graphics cards can support a maximum of 8 displays (total across all cards in system) with a maximum 6 of those displays being used together in a display group...
Our very own Eyefinity + SoftTH Guru had a system with 9 and 10 monitors. I believe he's also trying to go 5x3 so that's 15. SLS technology aside, the limit is not 8 monitors at all.

Installed:
Hmm... Eyefinity + quadfire still below par.. DIRT2 @ 5040x1200 DX11 Ultra average 25fps minimum 14fps. On 10.4a this was average 67fps and minimum 52fps..
This is a real joke:
and still enjoy the performance benefits of ATI CrossFireX™ technology
Amazing how much disc access there is during gameplay. This really brings down the framerate. When i play under 10.4a there is nearly no HD activity! For example when entering the camper after a race, this brings the game to a complete halt with the HD trashing away.. If i reinstall 10.4a this is non-existent.
Just connected my ACCEL adapter instead of the Apple.. Blanking not as much as it used to, but still there. Once every 30 seconds.
@Tamlin: Thanks for the link to rage3d; going to fiddle with RadeonPro.

They are 10.8 beta 5. You might be thinking of the 10.7 beta with the OpenGL ES 2?:
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=325848
TwL who mods Catalyst driver thinks the 10.8 beta 5 might come from the new FireGL drivers that are to come. Here's his modified driver btw:

Edit: and here's the official beta firegl drivers:

@johnnyvd:
Radeon PRO is a nice toy. Reminds me of nHancer. Work well with Stalker Clear Sky if to make it run much smoother with vsync and render ahead. :)

I personally don't know the extent of the improvements, but the drivers above include some Eyefinity Crossfire (for >2 GPU's) improvements.

Installed 10.7a and... thank you very much ATI.. This is much better.
I am able to achieve DX9 fps with DIRT2 in DX11.
All below are with 5040x1200 Highest settings DX11 where available otherwise DX10
CAT 10.7
DIRT 2: 30% GPU utilization getting 40fps baseline
Red Faction Guerilla: 25% utilization 20FPS
Just Cause 2: 25% utilization 25fps
CAT10.7a
DIRT 2: 65% GPU utilization getting 60fps baseline
Red Faction Guerilla: 50% utilization 40FPS
Just Cause 2: 50% utilization 40fps
Seat of pants in DIRT2 feels better, runs smoother. But something else on my PC is holding back fps. must be something memory related -> lots of HD swapping(?)
So.. A good step in the right direction, could be better. Gonna test Metro2033 shortly
**EDIT** Metro2033 refuses to start, GTA4 runs choppy as hell..

Did you grab the options ATI Application Profles while updating drivers?

No. Did it and got the following:
CAT10.7a + 10.7 app profiles:
DIRT 2: 50% GPU utilization getting 40fps baseline
Red Faction Guerilla: 50% utilization 35FPS
Just Cause 2: 50% utilization 40fps
DIRT2 went down quite a bit, RFG a little, just cause no change.

Just did a fresh install of Win7 64bit this time (on a external HD).
Installed the 10.7a and wow, my mem problem/disc trashing/lagging has disappeared.
DIRT2 is going somewhere to the 69-70fps average with 70-80% GPU utilization. But it will (same as on 32bit) always hang the PC after running the internal benchmark.
RFG is blazing now.. sometimes 99% utilization on all four GPU's. Very playable with 60fps average.. sometimes dipping to 30fps when detonating like 20 remote charges at once..
Very Pristine OS at the moment so there are not that many games installed. But i'm very curious about Metro2033 and GTA4.
(and also curious what happens when i'm going to slap an extra 4G's of memory in the system.. 8) )

LOL! johnnyvd on a driver boost finally! :D
They reported the same on Guru3D with the new drivers. You should try out the V3.72 Eyefinity build, which is supposed to be good for Quadfinity users.

Hell, at this moment i will try ANY driver on whatever OS that ever existed to get my Quad setup going.
But with this recent boost i finally dropped my plan on getting GTX480's and staying on the RED side!
(and making 10.7a my favorite driver @ the moment  )
Still Got problems with DIRT2 -> crashes just like the ingame benchmark after some time. DIRT2 exe just makes an exception error and quits.. So not even a driver error or something and no forewarnings, gme runs just great!?
My hardware craze started with this game, i couldn't accept i could not run it with all eye-candy on and 4x AA in DX11 on 5040x1200 without some stutter..
Will try them V3.72 Eyefinity build..
