4 Screen setup question
4 Screen setup question
Can the ATI 5870 run on the 4 port?
2xDVI and DP in 1 group of 3x screen and the HDMI port cloning one of the screen?
I'd like to be able to clone my main screen on a HDTV while playing on my 3 screen setup
Is it feasible?

Re: 4 Screen setup question
As I understand one of the DVI ports will share a clock with the HDMI, so you would be limited to just the 3 at any time, unless you use the E6 card for multiple displayports.
I think this is why a lot of folks are using the displayport to dvi/hdmi adaptors to get 3rd display wokring.

Re: 4 Screen setup question
I have a 4 screen set up running with 3 * Dell2407's and a 42 inch LG LCD.
The only way I could do what your asking is to add in another gfx card to run the 42inch.
As I don't need the 42 inch to do much in way of hard core stuff I dropped in a ATI Radeon 3450 Passive cooled. Whereas I run the 3 * 2407's from a ATI5970.
It works quite well with the 4th screen. One use I make out of it is to play a dvd or realtime stream while I'm game playing or in games like Microsoft Flight SImulator X I use the 4th screen to display the map/throttle quadrant, GPS/ATC windows while the 3 main screen display the flight sim screens itself.

I am running 4 screens and only my 5970. You can get a tritton technologies see2 uv150 or see2 xtreme uv200 usb video card. You just intstall the driver and then plug the adapter to you monitor and then your usb port. (use newest driver off website) The uv150 can go 1600x1200 or widescreen 1680x1050. the uv200 can go up to 1920x1200. I use mine to display my system monitoring info and teamspeak info while playing eyefinity. It is not meant to play fast moving video etc but is ok for pics and 2d stuff. I use the 16 bit setting because for desktop stuff thats all u need. I have been using it for 3 months now and it is great. Since it independent on the driver side it does not even show up in your windows display properties. Eyefinity works great with it.
Pros: allows use of voice channel info and system monitoring info while playing eyefinity
independent driver so does not interfere with ati driver at all
System resource usage is very very light.
Win 7 64bit ready with the newest drivers off website
Cons: Not fast enough for video usage although pics are fine
16 bit is much faster then 32 bit but can hardly tell the diff.
CANNOT USE WIN AERO WHILE USING THIS! Not a big deal to me but might be to some.
Res limitations. Cannot do 30 inch screens. Make sure you get right one for your screen size!!
I have the 150 because my 4th screen is 1440x900. It will do 1680x1050 just fine. You need the 200 series for 1920x1200 screens. they both do 16x9 also. I got mine at bb on sale. Newegg has them to. Most affordable way to get the needed 4th screen for online eyefinity gaming.
Hope this helps people>
Ibrin if you reads this it might not be a bad thing to review. Many Many people looking for a way to get the 4th screen for some 2d stuff while playing. This takes care of it at a much lower cost. Pm me with questions anyone. Gotta go ride my harley now. Good weather is very hard to come by in North Dakota!

Very good info guys!
By the way if I don't whant to use DicplayPort or DP-VDI active adaptor for 3-rd monitor, can I instead mount second ATi card in CrossFire and use 3-rd DVI for Eyefinity and HDVI for LCD TV from the second card? :rockout
