5770 - Ever going to be a solution?

So I've been using eyefinity for a while now and have read just about every thead I can find on the subject, but there has yet to be a solution for the flashing monitor with the 5770's. I am running two of them in x-fire. I have the Accell adapter from amazon. My monitors are Dell 1908fp's, which have a max res of 1280x1024. I game (BC2) in eyefinity with a res of 3072x768 because 3840x1024 pushed the menu items onto the outer screens where as 3072x768 keep the menu on the center screen.
Now, I have tried every trick I can find in these forum from using an external usb power supply to updating the bios on the cards. I'm currently using the lastest bios now (ver012.019.000.002.036154), but this has produced no results. I'm beginning to wonder if there will ever be any hope. I've followed the "My Monitor Keeps Going Out?" thread for months now as that was where many found solutions to their problems, but the ones offered for the 5770s did not help. I know there are others here using these cards. Has anyone been able to nail down a solution?

I thought some people with flashing screens have had to exchange their DP adapter for another one?

Some did, but it seemed like many with 5870's were able to find a solution with a bios update. The same has not helped out with the 5770.

wait a minute... if you have TWO 5770.
you can't put two monitor one card and the 3rd monitor on the second 5770 card?!
you have to put ALL 3 on a single card and thus requireing a DP-> DVI connector?!!!
if this is true. I shake my head at the fluck up that is ATI

Thats the way it has always been with Crossfire and SLI.

When you say flashing monitor, do you mean that you get black line tearing on one or more screen?
I get it on my two side monitors so it doesn't bother me too much. I'd still like it gone, but i think that it'll be taken care of when the drivers mature further.
I'm thinking of getting a second 5770 for crossfire, do you know if the tearing is worse with 2 vs 1?
This weekend i fixed my DisplayPort monitor going to sleep problem which was far more upsetting as I'd to unplug the cable to wake it again.

No tearing. Basically, this happens when the monitor is either waking up, changing resolutions or while gaming. The monitor will go black and usually displays a message saying something like, "this monitor supports a max res of 1280x1024", which is what it's set to.

The only way I could fix this issue was with flashing the newer BIOS that ATI released to techpowerup with the increased displayport drive strength. The fix seems to be in the 5870 and 5850 updated BIOS but not the other cards.

I agree it was a major fuck up. The issue was BIOS related but ATI blamed the adapters for ages which had been on the market long before and working fine. Then they finally made a BIOS update that fixed the problem but it was only for the 5800's and not the 5700's and they didn't release it properly and only 3rd party websites actually had it with no real explanation of the fix.
Then they said that all of the card distributes had knowledge of the problem and would be releasing updated BIOS files but after months of me and other people messaging companies like ASUS and getting replies "sorry we don't have an updated BIOS" proved otherwise. I think only Sapphire have actually released an updated BIOS.
Finally most people with the problem like me ended up flashing the cards with the ATI BIOS from the 3rd party site with little information and voiding our warranties with the brand but at least it fixed the issue. 5700 owners are still SOL.

Thanks for the info.
So is this a head of me if i get a second one and go crossfire, or is it a case of if i don't have it now i might be ok?
Clayman, do you get this when only using a single card?

It's not to do with crossfire it is an issue with the displayport connector on the card and using some adapters. If you dont have the issue now you will be ok.

Correct. You should be ok with the second card.
I was able to get the latest bios update from Sapphire a while back, but at this point I don't know if any versions are going to make a difference. I guess the real question is whether or not the cards themselves are capable of handling it or if they could increase the DP drive strength with a future bios flash.

Excuse my ignorance. I never had Xfire or SLI.
it just seems like common sense to me.
It's like upgrading from a 2 seat car to a 4 seat car. but when you have the 3rd passenger want to get a ride. you tell him to go sit in the trunk. and when the 3rd passenger complain about it being uncomfortable, you tell him to buy some padding to put in the back... .

Looks as if there isn't going to be a solution anytime soon given the feedback, but thanks to those that chimed in. Just imaging your screen blacking out everytime you alt+tab out of the game to check something and having to turn it off/on to get it back. It's just frustrating is all.
