Quite exciting I must say. I think I'll stick to my 3 24" because I can turn em portrait for officework, but if they give me a massive curved monitor, I might get that in the future.

Curved monitors are sweet, but for the most part the lackluster resolution and extreme price a deal breakers. If you want a rather wide display with a decent resolution you can go with a Cinema Display. (http://www.consumer.philips.com/c/cinema-21-9/30849/cat/gb/) is 2560x1080. Though in the advent of 2560x1440 and 2560x1600 displays, the wideness could be killed by the resolution alone. But the display is 56." I wish they would start making monitors in wider aspect ratios. If we're going towards the same aspect ratio as movie we should jump on it i think.

I thought the Phillips would make an amazing gaming monitor until I heard that the PC input on it maxes out at 1920X1080 just like normal HDTVs - it just scales stuff like 1920X817 encoded Blurays to 2560X1080. Which to me kills the point for PC gaming. Maybe Vizio's upcoming 58 inch 21:9 HD set, which also has a 2560X1080 panel, will have proper PC input.

I looked into doing rear projection onto glass about a year ago, but the real key IMO is that you need LED projectors to make that really feasible. I game too much to be buying projector bulbs 2 or 3 times a year x3 or so screens.

But for everyone that complains about bezels, 3x 1080p in a rear projection setup would be ideal.

If I had no need for bezels, I'm not sure that I'd go 3X1080P rather than 2X1080P. Although I suppose then you'd have projector seems to deal with.

Unfortunately nobody seems to make reasonably prices 1080P LED projectors yet, although I have seen 1280X800 LED projectors go for $1200 Canadian.

I see 3 of these as a total waist because honestly 3x24 are taking up almost 100% of my vision I can just barely see the edges of the two outside monitors. 3 of these would go way beyond my vision and just be going to waist. Plus the proper FOV would just be outrageous, infact it would be so high that in some games it would cause it to invert your view.

This is meant to be a single monitor and saved for somebody with a lot of money to burn who is afraid of bezels in a regular multi monitor setup.

I've been working with 5x23" 1080p monitors, I can see about to half of the outer monitors (they're in a semi circle around me).

Curved screens aren't back, they never left. It's just noone in their right minds are gonna pay $6500 for one let alone 3.

Really, I wouldn't mind the curved display idea. But the price is crazy. I might pay $600 for one but not $6000. They're just too specialized for them to hit the $600 price point. And on top of that I never heard if they fixed the DLP edge blending issue on these things. I'd like to see them do a product refresh on the concept using flexible OLED and ultra thin bezels. As is right now, it's like having 2 rear projection tvs in a curved casing.

However, if someone were to produce, let's say, a single large (37 inch +) curved display with any of the following resolutions (or ones like them) I would be all over it like grass on a field:

3840x1080

Well i could pay lets say $3.000 for a 5040x1050 (or similar) curved monitor, but certainly not $6.500 for a 2800x900 ! :lol:

3840X1200 seems like the perfect res for this kind of setup for me, seeing as it's supposedly about the size of two 24 inch LCDs, only curved (although I wouldn't mind see it equivalent to two 27 inchers myself). The current setup uses four XGA projectors in portrait mode to achieve it's 2880X900 res (I guess they don't use the full DLP chip?) so they could probably do it simply by replacing the DLP chips with 1400X1050 versions, although I imagine those are more expensive.

I'm not sure this is the route they'll take with the design though... they've been talking about wanting to add 3D Vision support, and until Displayport V1.2 becomes standard that's going to require keeping the resolution down.

They can add whatever they want to it and even hold off till whatever cable/port design they think will be the magic one for them. Problem is, all of that is totally irrelevant until they get that price point down to consumer levels. Until then, they're just flushing money down the toilet by not understanding their target audience.

I was under the impression their target audience is military training rather than consumers. If they plan to shift to the consumer market then yes, they need to lower the price at some point. Although I doubt it's ever going to be cheap, since there's four LED lit projectors in the thing.
