Check the Steam forums, this is a glitch that I think has some fixes.

By default, the game has very low FOV. If you like it a bit wider, then open user.cfg from AppData/Local/4A Games/Metro 2033 in My Documents folder and change sick_fov 45 to 60 (or higher). :)
