Hi forum,
I am considering buyin a Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboard for my eyefinity build. Reason why is because it has 3x the power going to its USB ports. I will be using a Bizlink Active DP to DVI adapter and plugging it into my motherboard.
I been reading that the blinking is caused by a lack of power to the USB ports. This gigabyte motherboard provide 3x the power to the USB, which should hopefully fix the adapter power problem.
Any thoughts on this, I would like to know if any WGF members have a giabyte UD motherboard and still have problems with their adapters.
Thanks

Re: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboards
Might be better to just add a powered usb hub maybe?
Probably less expensive too.

Re: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboards
it can support up to 3x as much current.
the device will still draw as much power as it needs.
the addidge is if you plugged in a 2000w vacuum cleaner, it suddenly becomes a 6000w cleaner? nope
what it means is that instead of 5v @ 500mA, you can have up to 5v @ 1500mA.

Re: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboards
Some powered hubs allow 1A+ ... I fail to see your point.
Re: Gigabyte X58A-UD3R motherboards
The post was made to the original poster, there is no need to get confrontation about it.
If the device needs 500mA and the board gives up to 1500mA, the device won't pull any more current than it needs, that is my point. The quality/ stability of the power is more important, not the amount available, but this board's higher output may very well stop the problem manifesting itself in the first place.

What confrontation, I simply couldn't make heads or tails of your previous post.
