Don't Count out this 23" for 5040x1050

Post by johnds »

I would like to toss this minor experience in.

I owned a Samsung 2343BWX 23" Widescreen
http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0303355
It has 2048x1152 resolution.

After reading this board, I decided to go with the Viewsonic VX1940w 19in 1680x1050 monitors for my TH2GO digital.

When I received them, I found that I much preferred the Samsung. Surprisingly it is just great for 1680x1050. So I bought 2 more Samsungs ($199 each at MicroCenter) and am returning the Viewsonics. The 19 inch just looked so small in comparison.

Only problem is I am getting a little Tennis neck when doing some daily tasks, looking left, right, left, etc.

The bigger the screen, the farther from it you should be sitting ;)
Real problem for me would be the 16:10 resolution (1680x1050) on the 16:9 panels (2048x1152), but hey.

i still think the better route is to hunt down a dell rep and get some 2209wa IPS panel monitors at 212 a pop plus tax, shipped.
much better monitors and handle the viewing angles much more efficiently then most TN panels.

It's e-ips, not real IPS, and only 1680 so of course it's dirt cheap.

My biggest hardware concern is when 16:10 monitors become impossible to source anymore and only 16:9 are available, what the screens are going to look like. Maybe Matrox can come out with a 16:9 res to suit? :|
