Help with Mass Effect @7680x1600

One of my favorite games is Mass Effect. Having recently bought a 5870 I've been trying numerous games out with Eyefinity at 7680x1600 and I had hoped to do another play through in ME before the upcoming sequel.

So, my problem is this: I can launch the game, but I only get as far as the main menu. It is zoomed in and the text is missing or mess up. On top of that, none of it can be interacted with. I am running Win7 64, ATI's 9.12 drivers with hotfix, the latest patch for ME and executing "as administrator". I am using no config alterations or FOV apps. Has anyone had any experience with this game and Eyefinity or an idea on how I could get it to work? Thanks in advance.

There's no way to play it.

I've tried looking for HUD scaling values in memory and just can't find any.

There was a post over at the softth forums about this. Basically the game itself ran perfectly but because you couldn't see the HUD/menus it rendered the game unplayable at 3xscreen width. It seems the same goes for eyefintity. We'll have to see if Bioware issues a patch as they did with DragonAge.

Thank you, appreciate you're looking into it.

While I'm sure the patch applied to Dragon Age will also be applied to the upcoming ME2, I don't know if they'll invest any more effort into ME1 at this juncture, especially for the PC version. I am on their boards, daily so I see no harm in asking.

Thank you both for your prompt responses.

I wouldn't count on it.

Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 use Unreal Engine 3.

Dragon Age: Origins is on a different engine entirely. I wouldn't be surprised if ME2 still has the same problem as ME1 on the PC.

THAT would suck. :?

I've posted on their boards (where I'm a reg lately) and have not gotten a response on the issue... outside of trolls telling me how much of a minority I am in. Regardless, with as much as they've moddified the engine to suit this game, hopefully there will at least be a viable hack.

Thanks again for your replies Dope Fish. You :rockout

Dragon Age does not work correctly in triple head (EyeFinity, whatever you want to call it). Objects from the environment disappear all over the screen which makes it unplayable (for me anyway).

I am using the newest patch. The problem is still there. Objects on the screen disappear when moving the camera at all times.

I thought I'd try Eyefinity in portrait mode (truth be told, my desk is too small for landscape mode :P). It's ALMOST playable at 3600x1920:

If only there is a way to adjust the HUD position a tiny bit...

An workaround would be to run it in windowed mode. But I suppose for folks running in landscape mode, they could just run it in the center monitor.

Can you run it in an Eyefinity Resolution, say 5040 * 1050 in window mode and have the hud working?

I can't try it because I don't have the desk space to run landscape mode. I suspect not though. Even in windowed mode, resolutions that aren't 16:9 or 16:10 did not work properly or at all. I settled on 2560x1600.

:( oh well, im planning a new play through of ME 1 to prepare for ME 2, would have loved to play in landscape even in window mode.

Thanks
