So the battle is on for the Trekkers (Trekkies) and the upcoming Star Trek Online game. Sellers are offering exclusives for the pre-order business;

•GameStop -- GameStop customers receive the ability to command the exclusive and always classic USS Enterprise from Star Trek The Original Series.
•Best Buy -- Best Buy is offering their customers a fun in-game pet. As a Federation Captain, players own a famed Tribble of Star Trek lore that will accompany them on their travels into the final frontier. As a Klingon commander, players control the boar-like Targ, a beast found on the Klingon home world of Qo?noS.
•Amazon -- Amazon is offering an exclusive ?Liberated Borg? Bridge Officer. This bridge officer, who comes with unique nanotechnology augmentations, assists in missions and gains experience as the player does.
•Wal-Mart -- With the Wal-Mart Bonus Skill Points package, receive addition skill points that enable players to improve their characters quickly.
•Target -- Target customers who preorder Star Trek Online receive a unique ground weapon ? a TR-116. I kinda wanted the Enterprise as having a Cruiser at start will probably make space based mission a bit easier in the beginning. But i also want the Borg as it will be helpful throughout the whole game.

Before the game even starts I can tell this type of thing is fail. Another item-centric grindfest. I'll probably buy it anyways because it's not like any other Trek MMO is going to come along in the next couple of years.

I guess I will go with the Tribble. I would maybe rather have the borg officer but I don't want to wait for Amazon shipping.

Amazon is now offering release date arrival on some hot titles like ME2. Not for STO though but given Cryptic's record, if you join open beta, you'll have 5-6 days to enter your retail code.

I was going through a rebellion against digital delivery a while back and was going to use amazon for the Dragon Age Deluxe Edition, so I preordered it. A week before release they notified me my preorder was canceled due to lack of inventory, and everyone else was sold out. It was quite annoying.

That said I might try them again with ME2 if they still have PC Limited Editions for preorder.

I see none of the other big early 2010 games have that delivery option though, sadly.

With this not being released for at least 3 months, makes me wonder why they're starting pre-orders so early? They hard up for development budget returns? It's not like people are going to love the idea that they can't use thier xmas present till February...

Games go on preorder much more than two months ahead of time.

And we are less than 2 months to launch (Feb 2nd)

The online-only digital deluxe edition gets you TOS uniforms, the KHAAAAAN emote and exclusive use of the Trill species.

I would kind of like to be a Trill, so that sucks. I hate these freaking exclusives, I really, really do. If anyone goes digital deluxe and does not want the Trill thing and it is a seperate code I would love to have it, maybe give you something of mine in exchange or something, kthanx.
