The Saboteur - DOA?

Post by Tanuki »

"EA is totally sending Saboteur out to die. And it's a fucking shame. It's easily Pandemic's best game yet."

So what does the above mean? No pub?

The Saboteur - DOA?

Post by scavvenjahh »

Nope, it's just that most of Pandemic's staff got fired just before release of what they seem to have considered their last-chance AAA release. Pandemic is now part of EA L.A as a brand, i.e development of The Saboteur was taken over by EA - one month before the announced release date. "Sent out to die" here means "we were robbed of our hard work and our baby won't end up being the polished product we were wishing to release".

Just like this ex-Pandemic guy I guess. I'm not really worried about that, since I'm not sure it will be anything close to a great game anyway. Time will tell.

Looks like EA chose the "beta patch" way in an attempt to fix a fragment of the most embarrassing technical issues.
So yeah, DOA...

I have the game, I bought during EA's massive digital download sale, got it for basically $10. The game runs very well here, now just need to wait for a proper fixer for triplehead to not be zoomed in.

The game runs very well on nVidia hardware, it just has ATI problems. The beta patch was released to help with that while they work on a more broad patch, which to me is a GOOD thing, not a bad thing.

Hope you're right SV, but "beta patches" is sth I hadn't seen since Loki, which was still a bugfest after a dozen updates.

Did you try the FOV hack ? Taken from this thread:
I've made an FOV Hack here: http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=53

Results:
well, im unable to get a full screenshot, heres what fraps gave me at 5040 x 1050:

that time to beat thingy is stuck on the screen but it dont bother me much...

another note, dont exceed 1000 in the fov hack, you'll get some corruption. 860 seems ok for me.

I doubt it will be well supported, but I do think the ATI issue will be sorted out. Past that I don't think the game has any issues, it plays perfectly on my system. The lack of AA and the close draw-distance are annoying, but that's not a bug, just signs of the console origins.

And Pandemic is still alive, they are working within EALA on Mercenaries Inc..
