I thought the Dell E228WFP's were OK at 57Hz???

I finally got triplehead2go with Win7 64 bit working with 182.50 in compatability mode. But as soon as it goes into that mode my monitors say.

"unable to display resolution...optimal resolution 1680x1050 @ 60hz" or something along those lines.

I see everywhere that these monitors work, why are mine not working?

I have 2 rev 02 models, and one rev 01.

Any, and all help is greatly appreciated. I am a little urcked because I went out and bought these monitors because they are on the known working list.

The Known Working list is built on user feedback, so your input would be appreciated there.
Did you try to disconnect TH2G and setup 1680x1050@57Hz on a single monitor in nvcp ? Do you get the same OSD message ?

No I have not. My computer is not easy to get to with the space constraints I have. I see numerous people on here than are running them, so I am wondering if there is something I need to do in the monitors OSD, but I do not have the slightest clue what to do.

I can 100% confirm the 228WFP does support TH2G, at 57hz with out any 'nag' screens as i have them.

Thats great to here, but do you have to do anything special? I get that error message on my osd's no matter what I do. It sucks too, because everytime that happens I have to uninstall the video, and matrox drivers just to be able to see my desktop again. Thank god I have a 4th monitor!

Ok, I have been messing with this litterally all day long.

I have the new powerdesk software, and nvidia 182.50 drivers. When I go to windows resolutions 5040x1050 @57hz shows up, but as soon as I hit apply my monitors go blank.

I have counted at least 5 people that claim the Dell E228WFP monitors work, so I have to be missing something!

Do I need to install the monitor drivers from dell? That just seems silly to ask, but I am trying to cover all grounds.

Did you try setting your "Custom Resolution" to 55Hz? I've seen some people do that and it work.

Yup, doesnt work. This bothers me that I can't get it to work. I am about to throw this computer out the window, it's driving me insane!

any one have the old firmware update THDE_v2.3.40.t6.52 they can send to me? I lost mine somewhere...

Ok, I finally got it working!!!!!!!!!

Here is what I did, and I think I figured out what I was doing wrong.

I followed this guide...

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/11228

The big thing I missed was...
"Special Note: On reboot if Windows automatically reinstalls an Nvidia display driver you will need to uninstall it again making sure to choose the option to delete the driver from the system and reboot again.
(This mainly applies to Windows 7) "

I did not do this before, as soon as I did, it worked the first time.

So I am using 190.62 drivers
newest firmware... THDE_v2.3.40.t6.56
and the BETA GXM

Now I have 5040x1050 working perfectly (WITH AERO) on my Dell E228WFP monitors

Yeah, only problem is my games will not play at this resolution! Man, I swear thei striplehead2go is about to meet the hammer!

I mean, seriously! If 5040x1050 works in windows why won't any games, or the SGU recognize it?

I often found I had to apply the latest update patches to games to get them to work at 5040x1050. Pretty much all the games I play support it, bar some older ones.

What games are you trying to play? I am sure you have tried this, but worth doing a search on this forum for the game(s) in question and see if anyone has been able to run them.

BTW I am looking to purchase some more TH2Gs second-hand so don't hit it with a hammer ;)

FSX, and NFS Shift

They ahould work fine.

Everytime I restart windows goes nuts on me.

It changes my primary monitor to my 4th monitor. It also messes up it's position. It sits centered over my middle monitor, and it makes it like it is sitting to the left of the triplehead.

So as I start fixing that, it changes the resolution back to 3840x1024 and throws all my shortcuts, and gadgets everywhere.

This really sucks, and is probably why the games will not recognize the new resolution, but I cannot figure out how to fix it.

I am going to start a new thread, as this is a seperate problem...
