I just got an email from Matrox stating that they are almost done with a driver for Windows 7 which will be listed under GXM 2.06.
I have Windows 7 32 bit and cannot get 5040x1050 with any combination.
I used to have 5040x1050 in Vista with Nvidia 191.07 drivers along with the latest from Matrox.
For now......I guess we all just WAIT.
Yep, I am still here WAITING.
No, I have not gone anywhere, can you bring me a COKE?
Now I am getting hungry, can someone order a PIZZA while we WAIT?
Yes, that STARBUCKS is helping....but my butt is numb.
ARE WE THERE YET??
Refreshed on Matrox site, still no update......cmon, we all needed this
back on October 22nd.
No you cannot share my blanket.
SNORE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been waiting since the beginning of August. Frankly, I am pretty fed up with Matrox at the moment. They have a great product but I feel they don't support it enough, there are just too many problems getting it to work properly.
I guess a big part of the problem is that the TH2G is probably a very small part of their business, which means a lot less money for support and development. I sincerely hope ATI will bring some real competition soon.

Great news, I should be getting my copy of 7 tomorrow
there are just too many problems getting it to work properly.
Such as ?
The software nightmare some of us are living to get the "bonus" wide resolutions working is only one problem, really. I'm rowing with you aboard the frustration boat though. Keep the faith !!!

Yeah, the plural was probably not necessary. The >problem< is getting it to work properly. But that is a pretty big and important problem.
I am talking about 5040x1050, of course. I have spent a *lot* of time trying to make it work, but no success. And it was so easy on XP.
For now I have completely given up until they come out with the new PowerDesk. I probably wouldn't feel so frustrated if it wasn't for the fact that I love the TH2Go (when it works).

GXM is overrated anyway, I plug in my TH2Go into a vanilla box that has no GXM and it just works. So why you need GXM? Silly Digital users :P

?
I have been running 5040x1050 on Windows 7 ever since Windows 7 was released here. In fact, I was impressed that everything worked straight out of the box (or off the net, I should say, using the latest GXM software, SGU software, and TH2G firmware, plus the latest Nvidia drivers, all downloaded).
Let me check what Nvidia driver I am running. Strange to hear problems, I assumed it all just worked for everyone on Windows 7.
EDIT: Ok, I am running 191.07 on Windows 7 64-bit, Intel Q8300 with a GTX275. I am running Matrox PowerDesk version 1.03.0020.0617 2.05 GXM/VEOS (from the About page of PowerDesk). My TH2G is firmware version 2.3.40 and Video table version 6.56 (from the same page). The Matrox PowerDesk About page reports my video driver as 8.16.11.9107 dated 9/27/2009.
I remember that I could only set my resolution to the next one down from 5040x1050 originally, but after a computer reboot I could select it from the Screen resolution page that you get when you select it after right clicking on the desktop.

That configuration does not work for everyone. I am using 177 drivers because anything above that simply does not work :T
A new GXM will deff help users like us who are experiencing problems with the latest drivers.

I AM DONE WITH MATROX!
Newegg just informed that they are now in stock of ATI's latest (5870 I believe) card is in stock. Eyefinity here I come!
FAILED AGAIN
Posted: 06 Nov 2009, 19:12
by kevintrisha
I downloaded the anticipated GXM 2.06 for my Windows 7 32bit.
In a word........"FAILED"
It was the exact same as GXM 2.05. I was looking for a new monitor
driver in this as well. I used the proper procedure to find the new
driver from the GXM 2.06. It still shows up as the same old driver
1.0.0.6 from November of 2008. The date of the GXM driver is April 2009.
I DO NOT GET IT. ALL OF US ARE LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION TO GET
WINDOWS 7 32 BIT WORKING IN 5040X1050. Yes, I have seen others
who state they got late drivers working with Windows 7, but that is
for the 64bit version. This is NOT WORKING for the 32 bit version.
It seems that GXM 2.06 works the same as GXM 2.05.....FAILED.
My question to everyone is this: Is our problem a failure of NVIDIA drivers
or Matrox drivers / software. I ask this since I am able to get Windows 7 32 bit working in 5040x1050 using NVIDIA 182.50 drivers and GXM 2.04.
This would not be a problem except AERO DOES NOT WORK when this
resolution is used. It only works when I lower the resolution back down.
NOTE: I always follow a strict procedure to remove all of my video card
drivers in safe mode using driver sweeper before installing any new video drivers. I then installed the GXM 2.06 software and followed up checking to see
if the monitor driver is installed. I have the latest firmware already.
If anyone gets this working as a fluke, please share your story.
Good Luck!!

Now running Windows7 64bit on 5040x1050x59Hz!
Had to go to new Matrox software and Nvidia 182.50 Driver.. and it Runs..
Suspect it's now driver related..
182.5 is a Vista Driver.. had to force it to take it.. but it was not straight forward, So it's possible to do it, it's just not too easy..

Wouldn't run on 191.07? Mine is, but I know a heap of people for who it does not, such a mystery.

No way I could get it to run on 191.07 on mine I tried so many combinations..
Finally
DisasterArea posted this..
"Nope - In the last 72 hours I've tried:
180.xx MS download released : FAIL
190.56 from guru3d (reported to work) FAIL
190.57 from Nvidia developer area : FAIL
190.62 (latest( FAIL
190.89 Guru3d beta relase : FAIL
190.56 Tweaktown : FAIL
182.5 PASS -
There was a trick to getting 182.5 to even install.
Remove the driverd in device manager and reboot - then when it has it will pick up 186.xx automagically - DO NOT REBOOT > leave the reboot requester on screen.
whilst this is up, right click your vid card in device manage, go update, then manually select the 182.5 driver from the folders it unpacks to when you run it (if you've not run it make sure it's set to run Vista SP1 compatibility).
That should do it.
In order to get the control panel and physx etc I downloaded the individual tools and phys x packages for them and intstalled.
Everything is sweet.
Unless I see a guide PROVING something newer works, I don't believe it, as I wasted three days trying to follow the others and they simply don't work."
I followed the instructions above and loaded the driver.. then ran the wizard.. I didn't pick the 5040 resolution instead i selected the 1440x900 it appeared to not complain about a windows error..
Reboot.. up in came. reconfig follwed the boot and it booted into a blank screen... nut's
I hit the reset button and rebooted again. this time it came up and displayed at the new resolution.
I reached for the change resolution slider in windows and there it was.. 5040 .. I selected it and the rest is History.. Now I'm staying where i am untill someone can guarantee a newer driver will work.
Nvidia..can I get a better driver and keep it running please :)
Thanks to DisasterArea that was the missing link for me.. now running on 3 Benq 2420HD Monitors..

It gets like that... :?
Glad you got it working in some capacity...
Still such a mystery, I'd love to crack it open. I still think it's something hardware related, as per other threads I have posted in, like mobo chipset or something silly like that, based on my experiences. Still, ideas haven't helped anyone else get onto 191.07 yet, so it's kind of fruitless. Plus my development of this simulator is about to finish and when I pass it on to the customer, I won't have a TH2G to test with any more.
