Hi, two days before release of this hack and slash gem (from the creators of Diablo, Diablo 2, Fate etc.) - Torchlight - I just would like to inform that in this thread (http://www.runicgamesfansite.com/2009/10/forum-tidbits-185-dev-comments-in-8-days-part-3/) devs informed about resolution support in the game...

They're releasing this at a really bad time for me, right after Risen and Borderlands and right before Dragon Age and Left 4 Dead 2. I just don't have time for a smaller game right now.

Mythos was amazing.

There are two dates gamers remember, pre-Mythos and post Mythos.

I did pick this up on launch day so I get to play it for a few days before DA:O arrives. It is fun as hell, Think more of a streamlined Diablo 2 with better graphics, better UI. Even though I'm playing DA:O now, I'm taking it slow and after making all those decision in DA:O, I would jump back into Torchlight for some hack and slash fun at the end of the night .

The Torchlight devs have done great for resolution/AR/fov support.

How much you wanna bet that Blizzard will lock down Diablo 3's FOV? (even more likely for Starcraft 2)

Well they are going to have to do something for PVP.

Fog of war.

Don't give them ideas GA.

I may have a friend that might have tried SC2 with TH2G. It may or may not have worked just fine. (*note that just fine is coming from a non direct comparison, so it could still be vertical scaling for all i know)

Fog of war.

If they did would people not complain when they get a 5:4 fog on their widescreen? Or would they use a 16:9 fog and piss off the 4:3 and 5:4 users as they get attacked from off screen?

All hail singleplayer.

I imagine this would cause as much chaos as an "unfair FOV" ragewave, hence my previous assertion.

Assuming you could actually speak to this hypothetical friend, could he/she clarify things?

Realistically, if the games allow enough camera controls it should not be a problem for people. If they use a fixed camera perspective however...

If D3 had a user-controllable camera that would be great (and logical since it's fully 3d now). I haven't seen any footage or info to suggest this, though. Any hints on the interwebs?

Well, to be fair, your characters from-eye view distance wouldn't magically increase for using widescreen, so FOW is a good fix for the potential 'OMG widescreen is the cheetorz!'... ;)

This looks kinda cool.

devs would just need to setup a maximum range which would be calculated by the game rather than leaving monitor viewable area being the range limit.

I just wasted 20 bucks.

I didn't like FATE. Why did I think I would like this? I never like Diablo clones.

They had it on sale on steam just a few weeks back for $5. I actually posted the link in this forum back then. When I picked it up for $5, I thought it was a steal, although, for $20, I'll admit that I might have been a little let down.
