5870 and Triplehead2Go, Do they Mix Well?

So I was wondering what setup I should build when I can get the money and I came up with the Following:

24" 24" 24" (Used in Eyefinity)[3x1920x1200]
------------- (My Stand)
19" 19" 19" (Done With TH2Go) [3x1440x900]
[This is a Flight simulator setup with dash controls on the bottom screens and the flight shown on the top screens]

I was wondering if it was possible to fun the Triplehead2go off of the 5870 cards. Is it? I haven't seen anyone try yet. Because I'm thinking of selling my 4870 1GB when the 6 port card comes out. Also I know I'm going to need an active adapter for the TH2Go.

It should work fine, the 5870 can run 2 independant display set ups according to the website. It will see the TH2Go as a single screen just like your current card. Obviously this is just theory, but there is no reason for it not to work.

well if someone would like to test it, it would be great.

I dont know if the 5800 drivers support triplehead resolutions, and they may never support, according to the admin of ATI forums, this is a matrox problem, not ATI`s.

But remember the problem res is 5040, NVidia has snags (in Vista and Win7, anyway) as well. However you will be using your TH2Go monitors at a lower res, so you will be fine.

Are you sure all other wide thg resolutions will run fine with the new 5800 drivers ?

Umm no, good point. But certainly easy to test for someone. You gotta hope they don't get rid of stuff that worked before...like NVidia did in Vista

EDIT: I am too much of an optimist LOL

I'm looking at running a 3 x 24" setup via Eyefinity and also possibly using my existing 3 x 19" either via my TH2Go on the same card or on a second card.

If you want to use it on the same card then you are looking at 4 outputs, i.e. the 3 for Eyefinity surround plus one for the TH2Go input.

The current cards only support three simultaneous outputs so you are looking at the 6 output card but then have to hope that the TH2Go resolution of choice is supported by one of the 6 outputs...

If you don't have a TH2Go yet... buy the DP Digital TH2Go and you'll be fine, no need for a active adapter, I assume all your 24s will have DP input. If not, at least one has to be...

Yes, but you will still need support of the graphics driver.

Keep in mind, your example is going to be 2 screen areas not 1. The simulator app needs to be able to work with 2 or more defined 3d areas. You can do that with any video card.

Yesh I know, FS9 and FS10 support two monitors. One is to be used for the 2D Control Panels.

Too bad I've been loving my TH2go for a couple of months now.

Erm, you chopped up the quotes a bit, because that's not a quote from me. I don't own a 4870 or any ATI card at this time.
