Games like Sims 1 can be played on a laptop , and the Sims 2 spin off games like Castaway Stories and the other Sims 2 ' stories ' games are actually built for laptop play . Some of the older championship manager games can be played on laptop too . You're probably better off looking at 2nd hand games rather than new games because you'll have far more chance of being able to play them and you won't have to pay a lot for them into the bargain :)

Old turn-based strategy games (so you can play with a trackpad):
Civilization 1&2
Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel (has an optional turn-based mode)
Heroes of Might and Magic III
Jagged Alliance 2
Master of Magic
Master of Orion 1&2
Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri
X-COM: UFO Defense

Point & click adventure games:
The Curse of Monkey Island
The Dig
Full Throttle
Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers
Grim Fandango (technically not point and click but best adventure game ever anyway)
Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
Loom
Sam & Max Hit the Road
The Secret of Monkey Island + Monkey Island 2 + Curse of Monkey Island

Old action games you can play with the keyboard:
DOOM
DOOM II: Hell on Earth
Duke Nukem 3D
Metal Gear Solid
Out of This World
Prince of Persia
Wolfenstein 3D

Turn-based RPGs:
Arcanum (has a turn-based option)
Fallout
Fallout 2

Keyboard controlled RPGs:
Gothic
Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar
Ultima V: Warriors of Destiny
Wasteland

Emulated games:
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy 4-6
Secret of Mana
Sonic the Hedgehog 1&2
Super Mario Bros. 1-3 + World
Super Mario RPG
Super Metroid
The Legend of Zelda series

Unique stuff that defies pigeonholing (but would be good on a laptop):
The Incredible Machine
Sid Meier's Pirates!
Star Control II
