Widescreen + Multiboxing finally done!

Finally got it all together.

The main PC:
ATI Radeon HD4890 1GB
Matrox TripleHead2GO digital
3x 24" Samsung 2443BWX monitors running 5040x1050
i7 920 2.67Ghz
6GB DDR3 1600
Intel DX58SO extreme motherboard
Windows 7 Ultimate

I mostly play World of Warcraft. The widescreen sure makes it great to stuff all the UI windows to the side and clear the center viewport. Full Size

I also use Philips amBX ambient lights. More info

This desk is the Anthro Fit Console, it's mobile! Desk info

Bottom shelf is handy for holding more CPU's

Monitor mounts are a combination of Ergotron DS-100 Quad and Dual stands. Stands.

Thanks for all the great postings from users on this forum that helped me learn how to do this. You guys rock.

Let me guess...you do hacking for John Travolta, right? ;)

Seriously, that is one of the coolest command centers I've ever seen, and it seems you've actually claimed an entire room for yourself, which makes me more jealous. Print up a big poster with the word WIN on it and hang it from the ceiling, my man. :D

What exactly is going on with all the upper screens? It looks like more WoW, but are they other players or what?

edit
Just took a gander at the full res pic. Does it actually take 10 mages to take down a Heroic Training Dummy in WoW? lol.

LOL well it is Heroic and all...

in that screenshot I was just testing out some macros. That's 3 mages casting mirror image, which rules in PvP battlegrounds.

I run one wow clients on 5 computers and form my group. It's a style of play called hardware multiboxing. I don't think I could ever say it's a better way to play games, it's just a different way with unique challenges. There's a huge community of players that pick this play style out there. Check it out at http://www.dual-boxing.com

My setup was created to be able to multibox 5 character, or play a FPS game solo in surround widescreen formats, or both at the same time.

I enjoy the immersion that this setup gives me to do that, and because the room is dedicated to gaming, I've got decorations and posters in the room that give it character. It's my "nerd" room. Some friends call it my Darth Vader chamber. Whatever.... it's mine. LOL

Incredible setup!

Could you please list some of the addons you use while widescreening WoW? Do you run in windowed mode?

Thanks!

I run full screened and am playing with the viewport script posted here for WoW.

Code: Select all

/script WorldFrame:ClearAllPoints();

   WorldFrame:SetPoint("TOPLEFT", 2000, 0); WorldFrame:SetPoint("BOTTOMRIGHT",-2000, 0);WorldFrame:SetUserPlaced(true);

I use some addons like Carbonite, Bartender, Xperl, and Jamba.

I am moving UI things around with moveAnything!WTLK

Incredible set up. I sent ya a PM.

I also went surround gaming for WoW.

Here is my UI that is still in working progress :

There are about 20 + more graphical and informative addons that are not displayed due to the failed wipe on a ezmode boss. (We are 5/5 Heroic 25 man ToTGC btw ;p)

I plan on buying the ambient lights now because of you.

Wow, I am jealous, not sure if I'd ever allow myself to spend that much on a desk. Though the desk does look awesome.

I guess it's not a big deal when he's got like 4(or more?) computers there, plus a ton of monitors. Or his power bill every month

What do you do to pay for all that, my gosh. On the other side, it looks like you play in a relatively small room... it could get hot in there me thinks.

True, but regardless of appereances it doesn´t have to be as expensive as it looks, so i still o.O at the desk pricetag

I couldn't resist the desk. I admit it was spendy. I saw that desk at a security checkpoint in an airport and just had to have it. It was the perfect desk for the way I wanted to the setup to look.

I drew some unwanted attention at the airport when I ran to the desk and used my hands to make measurements of it; mapping out the locations for the CPUs and monitors. None of the guards would have understood what I was trying to visualize. Thank goodness they didn't detain me!
