vr zone has some information which i copy and pasted some of it here but pretty interesting stuff. even though its marked as a rumor its still some good information if its being told to the partners.

http://vr-zone.com/articles/-rumour-amd-dx11-cypress-is-radeon-hd-5870--hd-5850/7469.html?doc=7469

This sounds promising. Is this like TH2go without the TH2go box or something like spaning with 3 monitors rather than the usual 2. Anyone got links to more info on this feature?

That's what it sounds like.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. I have a feeling card manufactures will begin offering triplehead via the graphics card.

It all depends on if its going to be the GPU card its self or the ATI software,

Hardware is always better then Software. Don't forget we have the Mview coming soon and thats DVI and supports 1920x1200 and confirmed 1920x1080@50hz

I Googled around and also saw this "ATi Eyefinity support as of Cat 9.10 (8.66)." Is Cat 9.10 floating around in a place where one of the forum members can see just what Eyefinity is? My hope is ATI forces nVidia's hand to open up SLI Mosaic Mode to the Geforce lines.

I'm not sure this has anything to do with SLI/crossfire modes; early photos of ATi's new DirectX11 cards show them having two HDMI outputs and two DVI outputs, meaning one card could drive three displays.

It's all speculation until thier marketing decides to explain what the label means. Even if it's single card, that means ATI version of span modes. Microsoft+nVidia screwed up on that big time with removing that with the move from XP to Vista.

thanks ez, fixed. id also like to add that another news post on techpowerup.com has suggested the price for this card to be very aggressive, and is expected to be $299USD.

"ATI Eyefinity technology with support for up to three displays"

lol we'll see how that goes.. seems promising altho might not be as automatic as our TH2G's

i could be wrong tho!! i have my $299 set aside =)

i bet the 3 monitor support is the only reason that they added the 5040x1050 resolution support into the drivers. they got it working for the new card, as this was a requirement and then made it into the old ones.

the interesting question comes up... with 2x DVI, 1x Displayport and 1xHDMI does that imply you get some sort of HDMI to DVI adaptor? or how will the 3 support work?

but this may imply its monsterously powerful.

the 1GB ram may be because its so close the power requirements that they cant add another 1GB. you only get 25w per "line" on PCI-e power, so 75w for the 3 slot and the 100w for the 4 slot, plus 75w on the socket itself....

all speculation at the moment thought I think :P

my numbers are based on facts, but the actual specs of the card and my reasonings may be just fantasy :P

It's all speculation. It could be just as helpful to us as Big Bang II "multi-display" SLI turned out to be.

My cynicism is kicking in as the only thing we know about it is there is a marketing name for some unknown feature.

I'm gonna hazard a guess that it's a marketing spin on 'this card can use 3 screen at the same time'. No 3d, not game-friendly, it can just display 3 parts of the desktop at once. A bit like 3 circa 1998 pci video cards can ...

HDMIto DVI and Display Port to DVI cables and adaptors are fairly and easy to find.

what i was meaning was it wont be a simple, oh here we go 3x DVI cables to screens and away we go. Unless the card is like 90% thermal efficient, a lot of the "output" area will be taken up with slots to exhaust the heat, there is also room for a HDMI, DP and 2 DVIs? WOW, want to see that (unless the HDMI is an adaptor off a DVI).

i wants pics!!!!!

Edit: Ugh wrong link.. it can stay anyways since its 58X0 related.

Pics here: http://www.chiphell.com/2009/0820/99.html

While id be kinda excited about ATi doing native 5040x1050 support etc for use in games (which in turn might make it more of a standard) id be kinda pissed too considering I just shelled out $640au for my TH2go like a month ago :?

that card looks *very* short, and it "only" has a 6 pin power connection (you can see the back of the solder).

I think personally that will be the 50 model. not the 70 one. But thank you!!!!!!
