I was looking at a HP laptop that has a 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 in it and I've always been an Nvidia user, never followed the ATI scene much, so I was wondering at what level of performance/quality is the 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650 at?

Would this be like the Nvidia 9600, or 9800?

Also has anyone gamed with this Mobility Radeon HD 4650 and is it nice compared to the Nvidia mobile chips?

Here's a fairly comprehensive list of mobile GPUs that have been benchmarked and listed in order of results. The Mobility Radeon HD 4650 falls just above the GeForce Go 7950 GTX SLI and just below the GeForce 9700M GTS. The Nvidia 9600 is quite a bit slower and the 9800 quite a bit faster.

Note that you can fine tune the results by using the filter at the top which offers various game and synthetic bench tools.
