hi there
im looking for help how to get widescreen resolution 1680x1050 running in UFO aftershock. so far i wasnt able to find anything. no hacks/tools or files in the game directory that could be changed. the ingame options just offer the choice 1024x768 with 60 or 75 hz. its an awsome game but 1024x768 looks really bad on my new screen. any ideas would be great. thx in advance.

I've been playing around, and I think the hex editor option is the only way. But even that Im unsure of.

Another necro bump (my apologies) but is there any solution for this? (especially with jackfuste around fixing up the older games :) ) Would be nice to play this while waiting for the new XCOM game to come out.

What resolution do you need?
I quickly looked at this game. Higher resolutions are possible, but there are problems with GUI because it is designed strictly for resolution 1024x768. Correction GUI may take a some time.

I'll also bump the thread and say that it would be awsome to have a 1920x1080 resolution fix, even with broken UI, uf it's playable.
Also, I think, a wider resolution will break the laputa screen, but I hope not.

Found a bug:
When selecting a landing site for your capsule when starting a mission, the actual mission map is centered on the screen, but the clickable regions are offset to the left.
IE. You can click a capsule site to choose that point to start the mission from - however the hotbox is off to the top left instead of aligned with the map.

Other than that everything seems to work great. Thanks again.

Just a note for anyone running at 1080p but with a shimmery low res look in the missions - turn off Smart Gamma Post Processing in the ingame options, that should fix it.

Wow! Great work Jackfuste!
Coincidentally I just installed this game today for nostalgic value.
I'm playing on a 1600 x 900 screen, could you modify the patch for this resolution as well?

hey,

when i tried running UFO Aftershock with this widescreen patch it loads up the entire game too far to the bottom right.

My monitor is 1920x1080 capable.

It works fine once the widescreen mod is removed.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Thanks guys

I had that problem too - try starting the game without the mod, go in and adjust all your options and save them, then apply the fix and see if it works then.
