Yeah, and I'll be crying when it's out, because like all the other Total War games there will be no Th2Go support and not enough interest to even warrant a fix by dopefish or racer_s (although even if there was, I'm pretty sure the UI would be completely unusable).

It's a crying shame strategy games don't support multi-monitors, just look at what Supreme Commander did with 2.. and that was just scratching the possibilities. I'm not talking about more FOV here, but being able to multi-task in different spots simultaneously based on how many monitors you have.

I totally agree. I wonder why Medieval II doesn't warrant some attention from the modders?

It's my understanding that the game sold extremely well. And it triplehead, it would be totally incredible.

Like you said - very disappointing. :(

I don't think the UI is very moddable at all, the most I've seen changed is the skins for them. If it weren't so, then we'd have a slew of UI mods already since the UI currently sucks for people with high resolutions, taking up half the screen for having 1 window open is pointless.

I would really like to bump this thread. Just now re-installed the game in anticipation of Empire, and absolutely concur that the battles would be fantastic @ surround resolutions.
Is there really now way to change the FoV? I can live with the stretched HUD, although changing that would be sweet to.
Come on, I would actually pay in order to be able to play this @ 3840x1024! :!:

Yep, same here.. I would gladly pay like $50 for someone to support the Total War games. I basically play it a few times and then I get annoyed by only using 1 monitor and go back to FPSes :(.

I'd say the best thing you can do right now is get on the official forums and lobby the developers for surround support. Post some screenshots and links to Surround games and tell them how awesome it would be for Empire to span 3 screens. Check my sig for before/after shots of BFMEII in surround. Also:

Right,

I just went ahead and opened a thread on what I understand to be the most prolifically visited forum for Empire TW.

Please be so kind and add a post asking for the implementation of surround gaming resolutions for Empire TW. I'm sure that with enough attention, CA might still go ahead and make it happen!

Strategy games don't really get as much benefit from simply increasing FOV.. SupCom2 went the right route by allowing you to use a second monitor as a completely different camera.

Still, if they would just not make the UI stretch (like scale+dock it would be good) that alone would be a step in the right direction. The game's impossible to play when one text box is stretched across 1 and a half monitors.

By the way, you know there's an official Total War forum right? The twcenter one ain't it.

Well I looked on the official TW page, and couldn't find a forum specifically for Empire. If you could point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Really? Maybe it's just a matter of preference, but from what I've seen and played, RTS games benefit tremendously from 3x FOV.

Except it's not 3x FOV, you'll be lucky to get 40% more because of the way the camera angles are calculated.

In most modern RTSes you can always zoom out more if you want to see more, so more FOV is pretty moot anyway.

They did redesign the official site to be Flash now so I guess their new site is more confusing (the link to the forums is oddly absent from the "Empire" subsite but it is on the "Total War" subsite).

http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/forums/114/t/Empire-Total-War.html - the official forums, Empire subforum.

(the way I got it was by going to http://www.totalwar.com/?lang=us then click Community and Forums, then Forum then Empire Total War).
