What is the difference between the FOV of (3840 x 1024) vs (5040 x 1050)? Does triple 22" allow you to see more than triple 19" without stetching?

triple 4:3 monitor 3840x1024 is around fov 130-135
triple 16:10 5040x1050 is around fov 144-148

having tried both triplehead at 4:3 and 16:10 I think u do see more at triple wide BUT it's something u really don't notice while you are playing. it's just your perrefiial vision not as wide.

but having triple wide screen is nicer as the center screen because u see more widely before you see the border/bezzle of the monitor.

1280x1024 is 5:4, you're not the only one making this mistake, but I shudder every time I see it! :lol:

Watch my crappy math...

3840x1024 = 15:4 ratio = 37.5:10
5040x1050 = 48:10
Here ya go, it's like a 10.5:10 screen more in your fov :oops:

Other than that, 22" or 19" don't matter, it's how many pixels you put in there. If there were such thngs as 4:3 or 5:4 22" panels, the fov over three of those would still be narrower than over three 16:10 19" panels. But you knew that ;)

I have 3 x 22" Widescreen and run games at 3840x1024, and indeed, they are a bit stretched horizontally, but not so much it bothers me.

I wonder, should I be running games at 3840x768 (1280x768x3)? I recall running Crysis at that resolution and it still had a bit of horiz stretch...

I suppose I don't really notice it anymore as I have played several games to completion at 3840x1024 (Assassin's Creed, Dead Space, etc)...

tricky ...
What aspect ratio are your widescreens ?

Are they 15:9 ? ... because 1280X768 is.

If your screens are 16:10 or 16:9 ... that would explain the distortion you were getting in Crysis.

My 22" Widescreens are max 1680x1050, 16:10 ratio.

Games look perfect on single monitor, but are a little horiz stretched triplewide. I always thought it was due to using 3xWidescreens instead of 3x4:3 screens...

Do you have a recommended resolution I should be using? Will give it a try...

Did seem to look more accurate at 3x1440x900 in Dead Space, will have to change my SoftTH.cfg settings for all the games I play to go from 3840x1024 to 4320x900 or 5040x1050, thanks for the tip!

When I ran crysis in surround I didn't have to change any FOV, just picked the res and it was all automatic
