There's a new patch in the work (1.50) and a small Q&A page is up here. In it, I shall quote an excerpt that caught my attention that may be worth looking into. But I'll believe it when I actually see it.

So who wants to volunteer to be the guinea pig? I've long left the 2142 days and I've been concentrating most of my gaming on Guild Wars as of late.

Having it offer those resolutions and having the game actually USE them are two different things. DICE has never supported wide screen before and I see no reason to believe them.

I have it and will take some screens once the patch is released, but I definitely bet it's still vert-

Just to note out, I took the liberty of forming a reply to express my concerns and doubts while linking to the WSGF site. Doubt we'll get new folks but... well... who knows!

Welp, looks like they released the beta...

They have a "Getting started" page for 1.50 beta. Noted on that thread is a link detailing on how to enable widescreen in the beta.

I probably won't be able to test it out as I have other tasks that takes priority. Anyways, have fun tinkering with this one and please report back what you find. :)

1.50 Beta is out.

Widescreen is OK at 16:9 . FOV are correct.

Finally BF2142 has got HOR+ native.

Widescreen resolution are activated when you put in shortcut +widescreen 1 deleting +fullscreen 1.

I tested 16:9 resolutions: 1920x1080 and 1360x768

Not tested 16:10 resolutions but I think it will be OK too.

I did my tests, as well.

This game is now hor+ in-game. :)

The shots were taken in the exact same place.

All menus and everything else are still stretched, but the game itself now uses the proper FOV.

Thanks folks for giving the beta a test drive. From what we got thus far, hor+ is good news. The interface is a minor annoyance but it's good to hear that we are no longer penalized for having a widescreen display. It's too bad this little thing can't be backported over to BF2.

One more thing... can you guys test the sniper rifle unlock to see if they filled in the sides when using zoom mode? I could have sworn that the side weren't filled when using that rifle.

Pity that to activate support that you need to modify the shortcut. At least it's better than having to deal with the pathetic +szy and +szx args workaround.

I think you still have to modify the shortcut with the +szx and +szy, but that the +fullscreen1 command changes to +widescreen1

No, all you need is +fullscreen 1 or 0 (if you want to run it in windowed mode or not), and +widescreen 1

Sorry, didn't know.

But you don't need fullscreen 1 or 0 in the shortcut. If that's exempt it will run in fullscreen by default (or at least that's what my system shows).

Really doubt it, I think it's only a BF2142 patch.

1.50 Patch for 2142 is out with "Widescreen" support. Perhaps a regrade is in order?

This is great, I hope WS patch is comming to BF2 too.

I totally gotta reinstall 2142 now! But I have to find my backup disk I think my digital download time is over... those bastads.
