BF2142 in Widescreen problem

Hi all,

New to the forums, so hello.

I've just got a samsung 22" widescreen monitor for xmas - its the syncmaster 226CW.

I did some research about how to get BF2142 running on it and have found an edit for the shortcut:

+widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050

I have added this in, and it doesn't work, I'm still getting my old 1024 x 768 res, stretched to fill the screen. Hmmm.

Did some further research (via these forums mostly) and have discovered a little app david rudie wrote which sounded like it should do the trick. That doesn't seem to work either.

Can anyone help?

I love BF2142 and I haven't played it in weeks now.

Cheers, and thanks for reading.

The answer is:

Dice sucks arse.

Though i see there's yet another battlefield game coming out.

Hopefully this one'll be with a new - or at least updated - engine, and of course, widescreen support. Though I'm not holding my breath.

EA Games. Steal everything.

well.. most.

Did you do a global search on your machine for video.con files and deleted them as instructed by the link squ1zzy gave you? The game will create them new when you start the game.

Secondly, did you add:
+menu 1 +widescreen 1 +szx 1680 +szy 1050 to your shortcut after last " ?

Thirdly, there is a hz bug with the battlefield series, so make sure that your refresh rate in the GFX drivers are set to 60hz, not 59hz or other.

As for black bars, it depends on your GFX how to achieve it. Also, some monitors override the GFX settings and stretches everything anyway, so many have used Powerstrip to force a resolution. :)
