I ordered it from game.co.uk
It arrived today !
I have spent all day trying to get it to work !!!!!

Using a no-CD I got it to work ...

It is Vert- for sure ... :(

But it can be fixed ... I think ...
I haven't played too far but this seems to work ... more testing needed !

Add ... -enableconsole to the shortcut ...
in the game bring down the console ... type in ...

FOV 130

or whatever value you like !

1280x1024

3840x1024 before fix ...

3840x1024 after fix ... the camera angle changes a bit but it seems OK ... using a FOV of 130 for TripleHead ...

Multiplayer shot ...

After a bit of testing I have found that the cutscenes are taking on the FOV adjustment too but they are all displayed in a 16:9 window (black bars on the sides) and so only really require a fov of about 100.

You can reset the FOV to 100 in the console but then after the cutscene you would have to re-input it to get back the 130 needed for TH.

It isn't such a big problem just leaving it at 130.
The best solution would be to find a way to force the cutscenes to use the whole screen and then the FOV would be correct.

Also it is worth mentioning that when you respawn after dying the FOV value is retained ... 8)

I just preorder every half decent 1st or 3rd person game ... I can't help myself ...
I preordered this from game.co.uk ....
The game isn't out here in the UK until Friday but for some reason mine arrive yesterday ...
This has happened with several games for game.co.uk ... 8)

Proof I'm no pirate ...

Anyway ... it looks pretty good and the fps with everything at max is very good too.
I didn't have much time to play and test it but all looks good to me.

The problems I had ...

It took at least a half hour to install ...

Every time I tried to start it up it would drop out to desktop after a couple of mins into it whether in menu ... game ... or logging into Games for Windows- Live.
The error message says Games for Windows Live has encountered an problem and needs to close (or something like that) ...
If I closed the error box the game will close ... :(

I eventually worked out if I ignore this ... don't touch it ... and ALT-TAB back into the game then the game still worked.
It is a fix for me until they patch the issue ...

I don't know what the default is ...
I just adjusted the FOV for TH so that the view in the middle of the screen matched that of the 1280x1024 image (as best I could) ... :D

Wow. You are a very cute puppy. It's great that talking puppies can afford purchasing their own games. Good boy!

hey guys i'm wondering how everyones game is running with th2g. my games runs fine in some parts and laggy in others. sometimes its real bad where the game stops really quick and then catches up again. wondering if anyone is having similar issues or its just me. i have the nvidia 680i sli motherboard, 8800gts 640mb gfx card 2gb 800mhz matched ram, intel core 2 quad 2.4 ghz. and i have the latest driver from nvidia 163.75, i just got done with call of duty 4 and was having a very little issue but nothing to complain about, this game is really good in spots and not great in others. let me know if you guys are experiencing this as well, i do have the settings at max btw. i didn't want to sacrifice if i didn't have to but i guess i'll have to lower something unless one of you guys has a better idea. thanks in advance

hey paddy i prob asked before but what are your specs, i had that driver but changed to this for some reason, i'm gonna go back to that and see if it helps at all. btw, i really hope they patch this, people with regular res are having problems so its DEFINTITELY not me. what stinks the most is i was watching an interview with cliffy B and he said he was playing the game on a believe a 7 series card and preaching how great it ran. idk how you feel about that but thats EA stuff right there. either they get there act together with this or another one bites the dust. i refuse to support companies who get off on manipulating their customers into believing lies.

on epics site under general chat hardware compatibility issues here section, they recommend being on nvidia forceware 163.71 you think i should go down that far, you think call of duty will run bad with these drivers. please any help i'd appreciate

I tried them to clear up my issues ... they made no difference ... went back to 169.04.
Dunno about CoD4 ... I'm just installing it now ... :D

No ... I had the same issues in Vista and in XP.

I'm having the same stuttering issue btw, which is making it close to unplayable. The FPS stays on 60 all the time but it still stutters all over the place...
I'm getting more and more angry with this "Games For Windows" shit.

I am on Windows Vista, everything at HIGH on DX10 of course, and the fps is at 30-50FPS ... And I don't see any stuttering or LAG. It is very amazing! I placed the fov at 75 and it is find for 16:10 .. People say place it at 90 or 100, but the viewing is very far.

The game crashes cause you need to download the video fix. After i downloaded it, it works fine!. And I realized that if you running it from STEAM or having other programs that produce on laying windows while playing such as XFIRE.

I realized that having those applications crashed my system, so I uninstalled XFIRE and didn't run Gears of War through Steam (just through desktop icon) and i am receiving no crashes.

The game is awesome! I can't wait till I buy UT3 and Crysis!
