Medal of Honor: Airborne ... TripleHead ...

Post by Paddy the Wak »

Thanks to ... logical ... although I didn't do it his method ... he inspired me ...
There are a few files to change ... on XP ... dunno about Vista yet as I haven't tried it ... it will be just a case of finding the files ...

First to set the resolution ...
In this folder ... on XP ... C:Documents and SettingsAdministratorMy DocumentsEA GamesMedal of Honor Airborne(tm)Config

Find the file ... MOHASettings.ini ...
Go to the bottom ... under the heading ... [WinDrv.WindowsClient]
Change the resolution to your desired TripleHead resolution ... such as ...

[WinDrv.WindowsClient]
StartupFullscreen = True
StartupResolutionX = 3840
StartupResolutionY = 1024

Make the file read only to stop the game from changing it back.

Now ... to get the FOV for TripleHead ...
In the same folder open ... MOHAInput.ini ... right at the bottom under the heading ... [MOHAGame.MOHAPlayerInput] add the line ...

Bindings=(Name="Z",Command="fov 135",Control=False,Shift=False,Alt=False,IsRebindable=false,BindPos2=True,MOHAConsoleBinding=False)

You can of course change the key (in my case z) for any key you like ...
and ... you can change the FOV value for anything you like ... in my case "fov 135"
In the game just press the key you chose to enable the FOV.

Now to get your weapon the right size ...
In the same folder open ... MOHAWeapon.ini ... find the section headed ... [MOHAGame.EALAWeapon] ... change the FOV to the same FOV value for the key bind above ...
In my case ... PlayerFOV=135
Again you can set this to whatever suits your desires.
Make the file read only to stop the game from changing it back.

Now ... to change the FOV while sprinting ...
In the same folder open ... MOHAPlayer.ini ... find the heading ... [MOHAGame.MOHAPlayerPawn] ... change the sprint FOV value to your desired value ...
I chose ... fSprintFOV=145.0f
Now ...
To help with the zooming whilst sprinting and to get it to look better once you stop running ...
In the same section ... change these two lines as follows ...

fSprintZoomInRate=20.0f
fSprintZoomOutRate=0.10f

Make the file read only to stop the game from changing it back.

All looks good but there may be other weapon FOV changes ...

Oh ... @ starfighter ... it runs fine ... average for me ... about 40-50fps ... but more testing needed ... :lol:

EDIT : Added extra screenshots ... 8)
EDIT #2 : There are some problems when sprinting ... my configs below eliminate this for me but there are still some other minor issues
Please read below ...

These configs are for TripleHead ... not Widescreen.

With these configs I only get 2 small problems ...
I have spent hours trying to solve them but no luck so far ...
As I say they are small problems ...

The first is when switching in Ironsights to the Colt ... the view gets a bit mixed up ... the way around this is to not switch to the Colt whilst in Ironsights ... :lol:

The second is after using a mounted weapon the FOV does not switch back to the correct FOV untill I run/sprint ... it is no big deal imho.

Give them a go ... let me know what you think ... MoHAConfig.rar
IMPORTANT
I have changed all the weapon FOV to suit a TripleHead FOV of 135 ... if you use a different FOV the weapon FOV's and the "sprint" FOV will most likely be messed up for you.

Make a backup of your own configs before you use these just incase these are no good for you !
I haven't included the the MOHASettings.ini as you may want to set your own resolution.

Great work paddy, when the fully game is out nowadays you have already tweaked the demo to satisfactory sg compatiblity.

Oh ... @ starfighter ... it runs fine ... average for me ... about 40-50fps ... but more testing needed ..

:wink:
Yeah, you set everything to max?

Finally A Medal of Honor game that seems to run in SG mode. :lol:
The last parts could not run due EAs fov policy and the original only at grotty 1920x480.

Oooops ... :oops:
I didn't have SLi enabled when I took the screenshots above ...
With SLi set to Alternate Frame Rendering I get a 5 to 10 more fps.

Lets hope the retail game is better optimized.

OK ... if you rename the MOHADemo.exe to MOHA.exe it then uses the nVidia profile for the game and the fps go up quite a bit ... 8)

Screenshots with frame rates to compare with those above ...

Do you know what engine the game use?
Is it the same as MOH Pacfic Assault (great gfx but demanding and no SG)?

As long as it stays over 30 your framerate sare considering this high resolution satisfying.

Yesterday I dealt with 10-20 at Spiderman 3 (today I am going to tweak the SLI profile(that have probably been overwritten with the latest driver update)).

Yeah... I've got 7800GTX SLI and can't run Bioshock in SG with high settings which, IMHO, is mandatory for that game as it is so gorgeous.

I'm thinking of shelving it until November when, hopefully, the 9800's come out and I make the upgrade (I always skip a generation...).

I'll probably do the same for MOHA....

Thanks for that info Paddy. As soon as my TH2G gets back from the fix-it shop I will give it a go. Especially thanks for the frame rate info, runs better now with the exe changed ahhh 8800GTX SLI :twisted:
I tried it on my 24' and the zoomed FOV literally made me feel sick! Like motion sickness, which I have never had before on a game. Considering I used to be thrown around the sky at high G by hamfisted stick monkeys and not have this problem, I was more than a little suprised that a 20 min demo would make me queasy!
So that means VERT- game is actually unplayable by me, another game ruined (until Racer_S gets there anyway)

The FOV when you run gets all messed up again and takes 3-5 seconds to snap back into place. I think with some more tweaking this may just be doable.

@ Mach1.9pants ...
Sorry bud you lost me with this line ...

It is not vert- if you fix it as shown above and so no need for Racer ....

For your 24" ... use a bind fov value of about 108 and forget the rest as it is not needed if you are not doing TripleHead.

Not for me. After using the run key the fov stays zoomed out for an additional 5-10 seconds or so after you let off the key before it snaps back to where it should be. I havent tried it at 3840 since i wasnt sure if my box could handle that. 3072 runs smooth as glass though so ill try 3840 and see if that fixes it.

I have been investigating ...
It seems there is a problem after using the Ironsights ... it takes ages to get back to the normal FOV ... perhaps that is what you are experiencing.

I'm trying to find a way fix it ...

What seems to be happening for me is after using the ironsights the FOV doesn't go back until I do some sprinting ...
I have tried changing the ironsights FOV ... but it has no effect.

I'm still looking for an answer though ...

This is the effect but I only get it when running first. If I am stationary and then use ironsights it pops right back to the correct fov but run and then ironsights and it takes a good 10 secs to unzoom. I tried in 3840 and it did the same thing so it isn't a rez issue.
