Hello,

I've just finished my new 21:9 cinemascope screen (16:9 projector with anamorphic Lens) and I'm thinking about playing games in this aspect ratio. Are there any games around that support setting the aspect ratio to 21:9?

e.g.:

1) 16:9 with top-bottom black bars so you can stretch the picture vertical on your projector and then stretch it horizontal with an anamorphic lens (reduced resolution)

or

2) 16:9 resolution with 21:9 aspect ratio that only needs to be stretched horizontal with an anamorhic lens (preferred)

You can try some games like Counter Strike Source, because sometimes when they are capable of all native resolution, then they will support also wierd resolutions (i did get source 3:4 and 10:16  )

My guess is that you can try all games that somehow support TH2G aswell.

Games supporting resolutions such as 2048x768 for dh2go would be an option if my projector would support this resolution (I don't think any display will accept such resolutions ;) ).

Before you try to see if this is possible with games, I would advise you to attempt to get Windows to behave in this way. Can you tell me what your projector's native resolution is? Also, what is your video card?

If your setup works the way I think it does, then I think the best solution would be to create a custom 21:9 resolution, but set up your video card so that the video card upscales it to fill the screen, vertically stretching it. And then let the anamorphic lens stretch it horizontally, restoring it to correct proportions.

My projectors native resolution is 1024x576. Video card is a 7900GS.

Let me see, if I get Windows to work with 21:9 resolution...

I don't think I've seen more flexible than the unreal engine such as in ut2004, you can use setres WxHxBpp and FOV for just about any res and fov you need.

You're not going to be able to get a 21:9 resolution with a native res that low. The closest you'll get is 1024x480, which is 2.14:1. And I don't think you can achieve that resolution with nVidia's drivers; you'll need to use Powerstrip.

With some timing-tweaks I got 1344x576 working with my projector (my EIZO S2110W only display a small area with scrolling). Now it's time to see, if some games work with this resolution...

Try Half-Life 2. Or if you don't have it, the Half-Life 2 demo.
