ASUS MW221U Issues - screen doesnt fit???
Posted: 02 Jul 2007, 12:26
hey guys, plz help if you can.
i am noob to these forums so forgive me if this has been resolved. i currently have a new ASUS MW221U 22" Widescreen LCD. native res is 1680x1050 aspect 16:10.
as you know there are games, such as battlefield, doom 3 and rainbox 6 vegas that dont appear to support that resolution, meaning they dont support widescreen? max resolution in those games (for me) is 1600x1200. when i apply those resolutions, the image on the screen does not fit. the image is forced down, leaving roughly a 2 inch gap at the top of the screen. like, the whole image has been shifted down. and across a bit now i think bout it.
my mate has a Viewsonic 22" LCD VX2235WM. his runs 1600x1200 resolution sweet as, fits perfect. his monitor is same specs as mine, cept mines better :P hehe. and mine has 2ms vs his 5ms. native 1680x1050, aspect 16:10.
im guessing its a driver problem, however cant seem to work it out? my monitor doesnt come with a driver CD, nor are there any drivers on the ASUS website. i have an X1950 Crossfire Edition, single GPU. with Catalyst 7.6 display drivers (has happened in all previous versions) and running Ray Adams ATI Tray Tools for my control panel. uses way less ram compared to Catalyst Control Centre, plus has more features.
now 1 thing that bothers me, in my monitor panel options, i have an option called Aspect Control. while this does sound like the obvious winner, that option is constantly disabled, no matter which mode or refresh i run the monitor in. nothing i have done has unlocked it.
sorry for this essay guys, tried to get everythin in in one post so you didnt need to ask me any further questions. pretty sure i've covered everything i can, so look forward to ur advice.
