Contrary to what is being said in the GTA III thread, this game supports widescreen natively. I'm playing it at 1920x1200x32, and have ticked the "Wide Screen" option in the display setup.
Here are a few screenshots:
'Normal' (1920x1200 without widescreen)
Widescreen
As you can see, the widescreen mode is Vert-.
Thanks for adding this in advance ;)[/url]

Hor + is preferable to vert -.
What happens if you use
this tool? See if you can achieve a hor + screenshot with it.

We need two screenshots in order to demonstrate that a game is hor +. One taken at a 4:3 resolution at all default settings and no hacks, and one taken at a 16:10 resolution at whatever settings and hacks you need in order to make it hor +.

I appreciate your effort, but those shots are more vert - than hor +. Would you mind telling me what settings you used in the FOV hack? Maybe I can help you find the settings that result in a mostly hor + result.

Hmm yes, now that you mention it.. my settings were off.
Here's a shot with the settings I got from the GTA III guide (fov 10, stretch 1.6). A bit wider, though perhaps not optimal yet:
