How severe are the bugs you described in the "singleplayer anomalies" section? Which one is the worst, and does it:

A: Have no hindrance on gameplay, it's just a cosmetic glitch
B: Have some hindrance on a gameplay function that is infrequently used
C: Have some hindrance on a gameplay function that is frequently used
D: Render a vital gameplay function essentially useless

Looking at the screenshot of the thermal vision, I would guess that it would fall under 'C,' but since I haven't played the game, I'm only guessing.

Can you explain what triggers the "blackscreen" bug? It's not self-evident from the screenshot.

I also don't understand what's going on in the bug you showed a screenshot of under HUD stretch. Can you explain this too?

As for the grade, it will get a D+, assuming that none of the bugs fall into the 'D' category. The system is unkind to developers who leave it up to hobbyist programmers to figure out how to hex edit widescreen into their own games.

==Grading==

Calculated grade: D+

Major unresolved issues: None

Minor unresolved issues: None

Summary of widescreen-related flaws:
Solution requires hack
Thermal vision, night vision, and blackscreen bugs

Cranky's coverage estimate: 98.5%

It happens maybe 5 times in the game, it isn't really necessary. It is something like "Chapter 1". In 4:3 the whole screen is black.

I also don't understand what's going on in the bug you showed a screenshot of under HUD stretch. Can you explain this too?

The HUD itself isn't stretching it just adds this small line. Nothing more or less.

Doesn't the thermal vision glitch effectively undo the hor +, though? It sure looks to me like the extra information on the sides of the screen becomes useless.

Hmm...not really you can use this extra space, the only problem is the curve of the vision. Maybe I'm one of the few who can use this extra space?

EDIT:

Maybe some could post their opinion?

My mouse stops working (during normal gameplay) at resolutions above 1600x1200. It works in the menus and what not but not during normal game play. If I switch to a lower resolution it starts working again. Has anyone else encountered this?

I used the patcher and have a logitch wireless mx laser mouse.

I had this problem sometimes too. The only way it worked again for me was restart the game. :(
I think it was fixed in one of the latest patches, because I never had the problem again for a long time now.

Version 1.05 is supposed to have a widescreen fix, can anyone confirm this?

More like a widescreen hack. It adds a couple of widescreen resolutions but, the hud is still messed up. Look at my new post for the 16:9 hud fix.

Dead Links in Post.

Widescreen Hack
Triplehead Hack Files

Patch 1.05 adds 16:9 resolutions but not TH ones:
The new patch as far as widescreen or TripleHead goes only adds 16:9 resolutions ... :( ... you still need the hack in the first post for TripleHead.

So the hack is still needed. The link is above.

Triplehead Support (With hack, none natively):
