Age oof Empires III/Graphics question

I have a gig of ram and a 256 MB 7600GT card, and i'm currently playing AoE3. I have all the settings maxed out, and there's no lagging during the actual gameplay, but there is lagging at points during the movies and intro scenes. My question: if I were to lower some things or disable other things....which ones should I start with that will give me better performance without taking a hit too hard graphically? As in should I start by disabling vsync, or shadows, or textures, etc.?
