I followed the instructions in the "Madden 2007 solution" post using the hex editor linked inside.
I get a "string not found " error though when I try to find or replace the 800x600 string

Did you set another res in-game other than 800x600 when you played it? If so change it back to 800x600 and you should find it.

I'm wondering if each monitor because of thier different resolutions works differently with the hex editor?
For example my monitor goes lower than 800x600 to 640x480
Does that affect the Madden 2007 ws solution using the hex editor ?
Any help is appreciated
Thank you

I tried 640 x 480, 800 x 600, and 1600 x 1200 (the res I currently use for the game.) None of them came up. So I'm not sure what search needs to be done in the hex editor to make the proper change. I don't doubt the original person who did this got it to work, but it's odd to me that no one else can get it. It was very easy to do this in MVP 2005, definitely not the case here. I guess I'll just keep trying resolutions and if none of them come up, oh well.
BTW the REAL widescreen solution that would be nice would be to be able to alter the menus and the playcalling screen to a better resolution output. EA should be absolutely ashamed of the fact that those screens look like they should be in Madden 97 rather than Madden 07.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm trying everything to get this damn game to run in widescreen (my laptops native is 1680x1050)
The hex thing does not detect the numbers he gave. Like you i tried changing it in game first before hex, but put it back and still had no avail with the hex editor.
BTW if you type in the first few sets of numbers (up to the last set of 00, but dont include the 58) it WILL find it. When you try to put in the 58 and so on it won't find it.
I know a ton of people looking for this fix, but i dont' know much about how to do this. Any help with all this would be extremely appreciated : )
(Also .ini file does nothing to help with WS settings, gets reverted back to default whenever WS resolutions are inputed.)
And setting ini to windowed mode let me start in the tiny box but as soon as you enter an actual game and leave the menus it reverts back to stretched.
I'm thinking the numbers for the hex string might be wrong, or just the poster typed it in wrong.
And yes, EA should be ashamed of themselves with the PC version of this game. No options for people with high end PCs to play this game with decent looking graphics or in widescreen, and the controller options (even with 360 controller) aren't fully available either.

I did the exact thing, changed the in game to 800x600, and found 4 strings... Once I get back in the game, 800x600 is gone and 1680x1050 isn't on the resolution list. Any suggestions?

Same thing happened to me. Also tried with the 640x480 string but then that resolution wasn't availible anymore.

Looks like we're going to have to wait for a fix or something. I don't understand EA and not supporting widescreen resolutions...

Okay it seems like all of us have changed in game settings before trying the hex editor which may be messing with it.
Has anyone attempted the hex editor before ever changing the in game settings?
Or has anyone tried to uninstall and reinstall the game to do it?
I would do it, but i am afraid to lose my franchise save.

I did it and didn't lose anything... It was suposed to replace 800x600 so I just changed it back to 1600x1200 and the game looks ok.. NOt as great as 1680x1050 would =D

Already tried this, the game resets the .ini to 800 x 600 whenever you input a widescreen resolution, checked both the menus and the gameplay (still stretch)

default settings database

Madden 07 uses an internal database for its settings, so even if the .ini file is deleted, it's able to write back a default .ini file.
I am assuming this is in settings.db - has anyone checked this file out? The path should be C:Documents and SettingsMy DocumentsMadden NFL 07Systemsettings.db
I might give this a shot later today, but wanted to throw it out there in case anyone else wanted to try. It should go without saying that the original should be backed up, and you'll need a hex editor.

While I agree that the settings.db file may have some answers within it, we need a program that is capable of opening this file for editing. I tried to open it with some of the programs out there that have been designed to edit EA Sports files, but none of them worked. If you find one that works though, let me know.
I can LIVE with 1600 x 1200 in this game if I have to, but I would love to find a way to get it up to 1920 x 1200.

I don't know of any programs written specifically to open this file. The programs written to edit EA Sports and other proprietary file formats are written by using a hex editor to decipher the file first.
