How close to a screen?

I'm looking at buying a 20" widescreen soon and just wondering how close can u be to the screen without straining the eyes?

My desk is small and I've got about 60cm of distance between my head and the screen. Would that be enough for my eyes not to strain on a 20" screen?

Nice find! I have the distance from the monitor set for playing games (where I can comfortably see the entire screen without 'looking' around. This is too far away for reading text well, but I use Opera, which has a super nice zoom function that I adjust to make the text as comfortable as I like for any web page.
