How to force higher resolution from config-file in GTR?

Hello m8's!
Some reason I can't change my resolution in GTR.
I see resolutions from 640x480 to 1280x1024 in GTR-config but when I load GTR, it always stick in 800x600.
Other display settings saved but resolution not.
I've tried 16/32 bit, all different resolutions, AA on/off, no affect, V-sync on/off.
I have re-format my new pc 3 times (not because this) and never got higher resolutions than 800x600, I want 1280x1024 because my TFT-display native resolution is this.
I have none problems with other game resolutions, rFactor, LFS S2, RBR.
I have all latest drivers, SP2, (GTX7800TOP) etc. tried 3-4 different display drivers, different Windows (XP)resolutions, no affect.
My GTR version are DE and I tried with these different versions, 1050, 1100, 1200 & 1400, no affect.
With my old pc, ATI 800XTPE, 20" TFT 1600x1200, I didn't have this problem.
Can I force resolution like in FEAR-game from config or plr file?
Any help would be great!!

I've moved this to General Gaming, since it is gaming related, but isn't widescreen. ;)
Other than that, do you know where settings are stored? In a file? In the registry? In the .exe itself? A bit of poking around the game directory should be able to give a few hints.
What monitor are you using? You've gone from 1600x1200 on your previous rig to 1280x1024 on your new one?

THX Paradigm Shifter!
First post, wrong place :)
I'm using Dell' 1905FP (slow) right now but i'm going to buy 32" or 37" LCD-TV in few weeks, 1360x768 / 8ms with vga or HDMI/DVI-connections.
There is config.ini and player file but I haven't found where I could change resolution like in F.E.A.R.

Hm...
Well, the references to Vidmode=5 doesn't look promising... that means that there is an internal reference to a table of resolutions. You'd need to find that table (probably contained within the .exe file) to be able to change one to a widescreen res.
Some games allow you to set the Vidmode to say, '-1', and it'll use your desktop resolution. Worth a try, although it probably won't work...

I don't know why but some reason 3D config didn't save resolution but when I change manually from config.ini VIDEOMODE=16 it works :)

Glad it is working for you now. My mode is at 25 and it looks great at 1920 x 1200. How did you know to change it to 16?

LabShark, I opened config.ini when 3D config was still open, it shows right mode number then.
When I closed 3D config, mode reseted always to default, changed back to 16 and saved, worked.
Yesterday I got my new LCD :)
ViewSonic 32" N3260W so mode is now 84 (1360x768).
