I can't beleive it, I have searched all over this furom and have not found any mention of Enemy Territory. I am looking at getting 1280x800 and 1680x1050 support. I just ordered the 2005fpw!!!

Is that the game based on Castle Wolfenstein? If so it uses the Quake 3 engine and may work with those settings. There's a Quake 3 related thread in the PC Widescreen Solutions forum.

Note this is just a suggestion and I haven't tried it myself. Good luck.

It's the multiplayer only RTCW addon.

However, because it's multiplayer, the 'cheat protection' systems will likely cause you problems if you edit any files.

Try this.
Its an cfg editor for Enemy territory that will create an autoexec.cfg.
After it has change the res/add lines to whatever u want in the autoexec.cfg.

I don't play ET too often anymore, but I still thoroughly enjoy the sessions I do play. I would love to see someone figure this out.

it is answered in this thread:

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/

Instructions (on Win XP Pro):

1 ) Install Q3 based game.
2 ) Run once, and quit, to generate the .cfg file.
3 ) Navigate to 'GameDirectoryBase' directory. (where GameDirectory is where you installed the game)
4 ) Right click the 'whatever.cfg' file. (for example: jk2config.cfg in JK2, q3config.cfg in Quake 3, myconfig.cfg in SOF2 etc...)
5 ) Select 'Open With' or 'Open' in the right click menu and then choose 'Wordpad' in the scroll list. Do NOT choose 'search on the net'. It's a waste of time.
6 ) You can either have the .cfg files associated with Wordpad or not from then on.
7 ) Use find (Ctrl-F) to find the string 'seta r_customwidth' and change the value in the quotes to read either 1680 or 1920, whichever res you have
8 ) The string 'seta r_customheight' should be below it, if it isn't, find it, ad change it to whatever value you want. E.g: 1050 or 1200.
9 ) THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! Change the line 'seta r_mode' to '-1'. Otherwise it will ignore the settings and do its own thing.
10 ) Find the line 'seta cg_fov' and change the value to '115' or whatever you want. You can even set it to 360, but it looks like a fisheye lens. The exact Field of Vision is a matter of taste, so fiddle and find which setting you like the most! :D
11 ) Once these changes have been made, save them and start the game. Do NOT change the resolution in the settings panel, or you will have to edit the .cfg file again.

Feign posts where to find it

etmainprofiles(whatever user name)

works for me on my 1280x768 Syntax Olevia. Haven't found or added the seta cg_fov line yet so I'm gonna experiment some more but it looks great now.

also need to verify if it works on all punkbuster servers

I know Punkbuster prevents FOV change in Call of Duty MP, so don't be surprised if does here too.

Too bad WS is still considered a "cheat" by some games... :?

Nope, I've been playing plenty of ET with widescreen FOV, didn't stop me (at least not on that server, and PB was on).

well, it seems to work even on Punkbuster servers.

Like I was saying, I haven't seen the fov line in teh cfg file and I haven't added one yet. Since it works and looks fine I think I shall leave it alone

Phew! This one was an interesting hack to say the least.

I don't know about you guys, but my ETconfig file was a big jumble of commands, very untidy to say the least. My seta r_custom(height, width, mod) lines were scattered all over the file, but I managed to track them down.

There is no seta fov line in my file, but it seems to work well, so I won't tempt fate by adding one.

Another official Stretch"Two thumbs Up!" for this solution. 8)

The quake 3 engine was always one of my favs. So glad to see it working well with widescreen.

Files ? You don't have go go editing the files, just type the commands in the command console (` button).

/r_mode -1
/r_customwidth ####
/r_customheight ####
/cg_fov 100 or something... try it out a bit, I think I was using 100.

I'm sure I posted this here before somewhere, but it was nowhere to be found. Oh well, here it is again ^^

For reference, check out this page.

is that something you do once only or do you have to do it every time?

If the console command is a one stop fix, that would be awesome. :D

Update: I went ahead and tried those commands. Funny - even after edting the config, ET reverted back to the old settings when I fired it up this morning.

But! Those console commands not only work, but they stick each time I started up the game, too. I exited and restarted the game about 4-5 times today, just to check.

I even tried the FOV command, which also works. I didn't get kicked, and was playing on a punkbuster enabled server. What FoV would be 'about right'? I know this is a question of taste, but i'm interested to hear your opinions.

update Not sure why, but every few days ET loses the custom resolution, and reverts back to 800x600 or similar.

Second udpate around 100 FOV seems to work out right.

I can also confirm that changing r_mode, r_customheight/width and cg_fov works, even in PunkBuster games. It's the freakin' Quake 3 engine after all, an engine by Id Software. Of course it'll support widescreens. ;)
