I just recently purchased a Sun MS Hi-Def 24" widescreen monitor and this forum has been really handy! So, here's my question... is it possible at all to enable 1920 x 1200 viewing mode for Battlefield 1942?

If there is a way to get it to work, please tell me. I have tried editing the video.con files and it just goes back to 640 x 480 mode when i start the game. I have an ATI Radeon 9700 PRO video card with the latest Catalyst drivers (4.12).

I don't have Battlefield 1942, so I can't be a lot of help. Sorry.

We had a few old threads vanish a while ago, I guess the BF1942 one was one of the casualties.

Also, not everyone checks the forum every day, so there might be some more help in a while...

Open that in notepad. Change "game.setGameDisplayMode 800 600 32" to what ever res you want and save it. now right click on video.con and click properties. Under attributes click the Read-only box and click ok. That should do it. The menus are still 4:3 but the game should be widescreen.

First post guys.

This isn't working for me 16 x 12 is still the highest I can select.
I'd like 1920 x 1200. I just re-installed BF1942 getting ready for the BF2 release.

Going to try to change all the other video files to see if that works...

MethylONE: Are you able to get 1920 x 1200 as a regular windows desktop? If your monitor is not correctly recognized by Windows as being capable of handling the specified resolution/refresh rate you cannot get it. You can override this, but at the risk of monitor hardware damage.

Yes, I am always in 1920 x 1200. It works fine in all ways except in BF where I start at 800 x 600 and cannot switch any higher than 1600 x 1200 which ends up being stretched horizontally to fit the screen.

Somone out there must know.

I can't get 1900 X 1200 to work in BF1942 :(

I made the changes in every video.con file I could find, but it still loads up at 800 X 600. I did notice that my game profile, named OMAC, is not showing up in any of the files or folders. All I can see are Custom and Default folders. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance :)

How do you know if the tweak works? Will it list 1920 x 1200 32 60 on the menu of resolutions?

When install the patch, an warning pops up about the read only file change to the video.con files. Do I press yes or no?

Thanks!

Nevermind it works....

It doesnt show the 1920 x 1200 32 60.
You have to select custom profile
---> options
---> video
---> resolution list : select 800 x 600 32 (cause thats the original but the resolution cant change how its listed but the video.con changes the setting.

But anyone know how to make image quality 100% ?

When I select 100 %, it always goes to custom settings and goes back to 80 %. What do I need to change in the video.con, videocustom.con, and videodefault.con files? Thanks

i fixed the texture quality also,

i needed to change qualitytexture( i think thats what it was) to 5 instead of 4. (1=20%, 2 = 40%, 3 = 60%, 4 = 80 %, 5 = 100%)

The game looks a lot better. Too bad theres no AA to smooth up the edges.

Change the path from your desktop- or startmenuicon. (I don't know the right word Razz)

"D:Battlefield 2142 DemoBF2142.exe" +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1920 +szy 1200

It works fine.

I cant get my new Profile to run at 1280 * 1024, funny thing is though, that Iv been here before and accomplished this. Probably close to a year ago I was able to do this with my main profile. I have 1 profile running this resolution (I play often in this profile). But I cant get it to run in a new profile that I just created for others to play on when Im not home.

I changed the Res in the Video.con file for the new custom profile to 1280 1024 32 75, identical to that of the Video.con file for my Own custom profile

but when I run the game and chose the new custom profile that Iv created, and start a game, the settings revert to 640 480 16 60, and they change themselves in the Video.con file as well

but when I select my origional custom profile and play in this, everything is as it should be. (for that profile only)

what am I forgetting now that I knew way back when I made my first profile?

and by the way, can I do a Search for Posts made by me? I know I can on most forums, but I dont think I can on this forum.

Or click on your the Profile button below your post and on the right under Total posts: you will see ... Find all posts by motherboard1
Hope it helps ... :D

Sorry for waking an old topic but I've recently installed bf1942 on a new computer with Vista and I can't seem to get the game to run in 1680x1050.

I've been running the game on an old XP with no problem after altering the video.con and the rest of the files (from this topic http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/5444

But with Vista, that fix isn't working for me. Is it me or Vista that need a smack on the head, I don't know and I was hoping that any of you might have a solution to my problem.

1680x1050 is the native resolution on my monitor, hence I'd very much like to play the game on that res. :)
