please help me with quake 3/team arena!

ok guys i just got my lappy, a samsung x30 and want to get quake 3 and team arean to work in a widescreen mode [1280x800] but it has to be done manually? i read in these very forums that the quake 3 games support this reaolution natively! but how?

For a 16:10 aspect ratio screen, you'll want to change the FOV to 100.3889 to get perfect 3D game environment proportions. (Quake 3 has a default FOV of 90 for a 4:3 aspect ratio resolution.)
