Post by ElementalRose »

@Dopefish Thank for the help, it on steam but I run it outside of it. I launched it through steam and it worked.

As for Bioshock not sure when the 1.1 came out just noticed there was a 1.0 fix not a 1.1

Post by Gunhead »

for the guys playing COD-MW3 reloaded version: all you need to do is to install the game into steamapp/common folder as the widescreen fixer is looking for that path. it has nothing to do with the modified .exe. It's a very short lame game anyway, I can see why ppl don't want to spend 60 bucks on it.

Post by dopefish »

That makes no sense.

Widescreen Fixer does not care about the path at all. It only uses the path to check which version of the game it is for identification purposes. It's mainly meant to help me out figuring out which version of a game someone might be using.

Widescreen Fixer checks currently running processes for "iw5sp" or "iw5mp", and uses the process ID of them if found. No path is ever used or referenced.

I just uploaded a new plugin

Post by dopefish »

I just uploaded a new plugin for MW3 MP.

Fixed objective icons stretching out. There may be more overlays that need fixed. Please provide test cases and screenshots if possible.

http://www.widescreenfixer.org/

Let me know if there's anything else that needs fixed with it.

same problem as eyefanity

Post by RAGE_Saint »

[quote]How many people are experiencing the squished HUD? And is it only happening with MP?

It is really difficult to diagnose without three monitors. :/

I'm experiencing squished icons. Only happening in MP. Actually it's only a problem in certain MP modes. A lot of people probably aren't affected if they play Deathmatch or Hardcore modes. I play a lot of Domination and the A, B and C icons are extra wide and annoying. Some of the on-screen text is also squished but it's not a big deal. I should also note that these icons look fine in MW2. I'd be willing to test out some experimental plug-ins if that would help.

I'm having the exact same problem as eyefanity. I have tried your newest file (from today Nov. 10th) , but the only difference I can see is that within a domination match the objective overlay icons no longer go to the edge of the outer screens, they now stay within the center monitor (which is great, and an improvement), but they still appear to be horribly stretched. This also still applies to the skull icon that appears when a teammate dies, flag/flag carrier "GRAB" or "KILL" icon, Match start COUNTDOWN TEXT, etc. I have provided some screen shots to show you what I mean.

For MW2 this problem didn't exist, all of the icons were proportionate and not stretched out. It seems that the overlay is being stretched to the edges of all three monitors, which is creating the "squished" look of the icons that eyefanity mentioned, but really it seems that rather than being "squished" they're stretched out left to right, which makes them very intrusive, and makes it quite hard to play the game effectively.

BTW I'm running eyefinity (3 wide) 5760x1200, Also my Aspect Ratio within MW3's video settings is set to AUTO (have tried the others to see if it made a difference, and it has not).

NOTE: The actual HUD (ammo count, UAV, etc.) looks FINE. Just wanted that to be clear. ;)

Hope this helps, can't wait to hear from ya!

Thanks again.

Mine is STILL WORKING after the 1.2.359 update. Though the odd sctretching problem for the overlays still exist. Here is a screen shot I just took to show the LARGE (stretched out) Hit marker indicator. Any thoughts on that (or the other stretched overlay images from my previous post) Sir?

I am working with someone on fixing some of these issues, but some persist still.

Here is an experimental plugin for temporary use until I fix more things:

GREAT WORK SIR!!!!!!! the experimental version fixed all overlay issues (that I've been finding thus far)
I'll keep my eye out for any other things I may come across.

I've included screen shots that can be compared to my previous post showing that the indicators are no longer "stretched out looking"

There's definitely things that need fixed still, like the text being centered and certain popups (like scoreboard) not being centered.

Dopefish, widescreen fixer is GREAT! I've used it for MW2, and now for MW3 as well. For the most part it looks great running @ 5760x1200, but all of the INDICATORS (objective markers, team death markers, and countdown overlays) are stretched out and don't stay within' the center monitor.

PLEASE HELP!

I know what you mean... The INDICATORS being stretched make it very hard to play certain game types like Domination and what not. I find that the stretched indicators of the different Map points (A, B) block your vision to a point where it is near impossible to play that game type. Also it would be nice to see a normal size hit maker and score indicator when you get a frag.

ANYWAYS, I want to thank Dopefish for all his work he has done. It looks great so far for MW3! I am sure he will fix the Indicators and what not in the near future ( I hope :) )
