Displayport-compatible screens needed for Eyefinity?

I just rechecked the hardware.fr review (to see something else)
and there's this slide we already saw : (first picture: can't link to it directly : http://www.hardware.fr/articles/770-10/dossier-amd-radeon-hd-5870.html )
if there's any truth to this slide(note the "output crossbar"), I wonder if the TMDS would be somehow dynamically attributed
so in our example, whatever the output, 2 TMDS would be used by any DVI screen (even though there's no need for 2 TMDS for DVI single link AFAIK)
even then, since there's 6 TMDS it should support 3 DVI ...
really I'm lost ...

I've just e-mailed our AMD/Ati rep at his AMD e-mail account, as he doesn't appear to have spotted my earlier PM. I just asked him to have a look at this thread to clarify matters and help with the issues you're experiencing, dazboots, so hopefully he'll be able to help soon. :)

Your a star m8 spent 5 hours trying to sort this out. the adaptor works because i can use that as main monitor. and works.
it shows 3 monitors in ati ccc 2 enabled can move them around do anything but third monitor shows as disabled. dont know why i can move 2 pictures over 3 screens but can not enable third monitor @ all no matter what. wonder if the card is faulty. dont think its the dongle it works :(

IMHO, sounds like a driver issue if the OS can see it but not enable it. Either bug or a configuration issue.

I'm going to suggest something outrageous for a second.
Try one monitor on DVI, on on HDMI (HDMI->DVI adaptor) and one on the DisplayPort adaptor.
But really, I have no idea what the problem is. :(
Let's hope that Dave Baumann gets back to me/this thread quickly. :D

I've attempted to PM him here previously without answer, so I don't think he knows about PMs.

dazboots, I know I'm off on a tangent a bit, but could you download and run this?: http://junk.kegetys.net/DXCapsViewer.zip
And post a screenshot of the caps menu tree like this?:
A few questions related to the card's capabilities can be answered for some of us by doing that. This isn't related to your current issue, but would be of great help to some of us attempting to figure out the capabilities of the card.

So you used the HDMI port on the back of the card, the DP on the card, and one of the DVI ports?

i have used each individual dvi ports 1 by 1. worked np.
then tried the displayport to dvi adapter that worked. can make dp and 1 dvi work. 2 dvi work. but no go with 3 screens.

Which brand of the card is it? I'm assuming that ATi speced out all versions of the card to at least do 3 displays?

That's what I was suggesting, yeah. :)
I suspect that if it's not simply driver related, that it's the DVI ports sharing with the DP, which means no signal off one or other.
You're the guinea pig, though... but we've all got a vested interest in getting it working for you, because that means we'll know how to get it working for us! :D

Yup, we need to get this thing working. I don't have any display port monitors, so there must be a way to get it for you so 3 DVI outputs come out through some combination. :D

It's at this moment when I wish ATi had put jumpers on the card to force the DVI ports to single link...
...
I think we need Dave Baumann's input on this now. Urgently.

It's gotta be something simple we're overlooking here. Maybe it's a bad adapter?
