neosin: is it still slow after you exit vats?
I get those 1-2fps sometimes but it's not really a big problem (annoying ofcourse), it's back to normal as soon as I exit vats.

wooooot found a fix for the slowdowns

first i changed everything to low settings

then i discovered that it was either the HDR setting or trasparency mapping that was causing the slowdowns :)

i finished the game last night without any technical problems BUT i found the game to be average.

oBLivion was wayyy better.

I can't believe no reviews have knocked the fact that the only friken enemies in the game seem to be SUPER MUTANTS LOL!

I've come across lik 5-10 variations of enemy in the whole game. What a joke!

The reviews r wayyy overrated.

Graphics=7 (nothing to look at cept rocks)
sound=8
gamplay= 8 (vats is fun but gets repetitive after a while)
lastability=7 played it once and couldn't be bothered doing side quest

this game does not deserve 9'ss

I would disagree with the sidequests comment, some of the best missions are the side quests. For example, getting the Declaration of Independence side quest was very hard and satisfying. And rescuing the kidnapped townsfolk at the train railyard was also quite challenging with an enormous brute inside an electrified fence, hello mini-nukes!

The Survival Guide missions are also usually fun.

But I do agree, more enemy variation would have improved the game, I have hardly enountered any wildlife except on missions requiring it. Still a very solid enjoyable game, for me an 8.5.

Hi guys, wonder if some one can help, just got this game today, and am using
iSafeZoneXWide=770
iSafeZoneYWide=15
iSafeZoneX=770
iSafeZoneY=15
and FOV 150
in the fallout.ini file (running 5040x1050 in windowed mode), just doing the training missions, and I noticed that the bottom of the screen is cut off a bit (cant see the bottom bit of the HUD & when you open the I am Special book as a baby, I cant see the arrows to put my mouse over to change pages and I can see an option to get out of the book either!). Looks like its hidden by the Taskbar. I am guessing I need to change something in the .ini file to see more of the screen?

Thx

EDIT Hiding the task bar helps :) but I can still only see half the arrow to turn the pages on in the I am Special book and the arrow is still not clickable with the mouse.

Hello

Just wonder what setting everyone is using :)

I have 2x 9800 GTX (Quad SLI) cards 8 gig of ram and 9900 quad core and raptor HD's.

And there is no chance for max settings for 5040x1050 :/ well pretty obvious but at least I have something to go after if someone have a similar setup

I have spent hours now trying to get f3 to work with 5040x1050, it works with 3840x1024.
it starts the menu just fine, but when i go from the menu to the game it crashes to desktop every time.
I am also uncertain about what fov to use with 5040.
The game is run as admin. Sli is enabled.
I have the steam version of fallout (steam also running as admin)

Even tho I got it to run well on 5040x1050 there is still a lot of stuff that makes the game not suited up for it. pipboy is just unreadable zoom functions are crap.

The game is clearly not rdy for th2g. If a game supports th2g then it should be native from the start only thing that might need some twicking is the FOV. Going to be kinda funny to see when the curved monitors come then the problem will still persist.

Still no way to make the pipboy and terminals readable using TH2G I take it? this is really dissapointing.

You can make them readable, just not perfect. I did the whiole campaign with no prob. Just trawld through here and play with some of the fonts and sizes suggested. IIRC I set my console zoom to only have a tiny bit of the OFF button visible, it was enough to click on and turn it off. the pip boy was fine. I can't remember my settings but I just did what a few of the earlier posters suggested.

Good luck, it is totally possible with a bit of trial and error.

I had no problems reading the PipBoy once I found a good level of zoom...didn't even change any fonts.

Played the entire game triplwide (SoftTH), will go back once I recover from Left4Dead and try the two DLC missions...

Im trying to get this to work on my computer using soft th, but everytime the game starts the menu screen never shows up. The fallout 3 logo pops up in the right spot. But i have no menu to choose load save game and whatnot, any ideas?

Hi

You can try this.
In the Fallout.ini, under:
[Interface]
iSafeZoneXWide=770
iSafeZoneYWide=15
iSafeZoneX=770
iSafeZoneY=15

It should move the menu list to the center monitor.
Hopefully that's what is wrong, currently it is displaying off screen or something.

Good luck

I was trying to use the latest softth but for whatever reason it was what was causing that problem. I downgraded to softth 1.08 and the menu now shows up just fine. Now when i load a game it CTD right before it loads...

Sorry, I don't know. I have never messed with SoftTH.
I can highly recommend TH2Go though. It works great in Fo3 and most any other game that's came out in the last few years.
Yes, it's a little bit expensive, but for ease of use and games supported, it is worth the cost, imo.

I tried it and did not like how it saw everything as one giant screen. Also when i got the games going for it, they looked just like softth. So i sent it back.

With regard to the TH2G scope view quirk, does anyone know what effect causes the water to show and little else?

I found this in "The Pitt" DLC, may happen in other areas.

Same thing here. No answer ever posted. Page 1 says a file has to be edited to get the rez but doesn't say what file?

I also just recently decided to replay it and re-installed in the process, just read through the first 3-4 pages of this thread and you'll find the settings and files you'll need to edit, its exactly what I had to do over again recently and it all works out.

I just got a new Samsung P2450 monitor. It runs at 1920x1080 resolution and I setup the correct FOV and everything but I still have a weird graphic glitch or whatever you call it when I zoom in with a scope (like with the magnum .44)

It looks like this:

Do you guys know what I should put into the config to fix that?
