PC Gamer UK Plug

Post by caevob »

PC Gamer have done a four page spread on wide screen gaming. Two pages of explanation and two reviewing four monitors. Our great widescreen home is the source of information given saying:

"The WSGF (http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/masterlist.php) keeps an excellent list of the tweaks that individual games require, and which of the widening modes they'll use."

The general gist of the article says that WS is inevitable if not a little pricey.

The monitors reviewed are:
BenQ FP202W (84%)
NEC Multisync LCD20WGX2 (82%)
Samsung 244T (80%)
Dell 3007WFP (73%)

Not very indepth but a good start for the masses.

holy shite! that's the 2nd mention from PC Gamer UK (we got one in July, two years ago), and the 2nd PC Gamer mention in the past 12 months (we go the US in October). Paddy, you gotta snag me one of these as well (and then mail them all to me).

I guess we can never let that URL die. ;-)

Here's kind of a round-a-bout one....

Gizmodo posted this article...

http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/peripherals/dell-2407-24inch-display-draws-complaints-174098.php

Which linked to this article on the Inquirer

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31727

Which links back to their original article, which linked to us

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31352

That thread on the 2007 now has over 107k views.

One of the new members in the Hello section said we got a mention in the PC Gamer UK Edition June 2006 :D - in an article How To WS game - it's before the monitors' review section.

Can someone tell me what was on the cover of this one? I was never able to pick one up. Would like to see if I can find one at the news stand or on eBay

Always nice that we are appreciated at [H]ardforum aswell:

from Chris_Morley Former [H] Consumer Managing Ed.

Thanks guys, we use WSGF for the workarounds, I just didn't know which games supported that high of a resolution natively...thanks for your help.

We recently got a mention at ExtremeTech:

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1697,2024115,00.asp

They said:
So we turned to one of the best sources of help for wide screen gaming, the appropriately named Wide Screen Gaming Forum. WSGF has reinvented itself as a Wiki, though the forums still exist. You can search for solutions to your wide screen gaming problems easily, or post messages asking for assistance.
