My new Westy :D Very pleased with it... I ended up moving my computer from my room into the living room (It's right behind the TV) so that my room mates and myself could have computer games at our finger tips on the big screen. I switched from using the G15 and MX518 to the MX3200 wireless mouse+keyboard since it's in the living room now.

I'll probably be writing up a review on this monitor later on when I've got time. I'd recommend it to anybody who can still find it (It's discontinued as far as I know). Best Buy doesn't stock it anymore, and most local retailers do not either. Newegg I believe still has some.

I'd suggest getting it locally because it's discontinued, they can lower the price to get it outta their inventory quickly :) Caught a deal on mine for just over $1500 with 3 years on it. I felt good about that when a few days later my friend told me he paid $4500 for a Sony 46" with equivilent specs/features and he is also having some major problems with his Sony. It isn't taking certain inputs, like the 360's update to use upscaled 1080p for everything... It won't run in 1080p with the 360 on his Sony.

How clear is that screen for normal desktop use?

It's very clear. Infact it is basicly identical to my 2405 for desktop use. The text and everything is very readable from... 7-8 feet away on the couch. And gaming is very doable from anywhere in the room. The viewing angle is slightly less than my 2405, though it doesn't matter for general use.

Which one is it?

I was looking at getting the 42" 1080p for around that price.

Doh. I wanted to get that one.

It's going out of production? Isn't it new?

Doesn't Westy want to have 1080p tv's?

http://www.westinghousedigital.com/details.aspx?itemnum=44 seems to be their only 42"...

Pricegrabber link. I was looking to get it online. I would rather get it from a store...

Do you think I would have better luck at a big store, or a privately owned store? (eg. Best Buy or a mom+pop?)

I went with the local shop since it's commission based, so they lowered the price a few hundred and through in a 3 year plan on it. I priced it out at Best Buy and any other place I could find it and places like Best Buy couldn't even order them anymore. I was lucky enough the local shop found one from another store and had it shipped to me, it was there last one too :D
