I have noticed that occasionally the shaders/textures take a split second to load-in on an object after the game has loaded ...
I have read that this is a feature of the Unreal3 engine, "streaming textures", and is not a bug, one of the benefits being it makes loading times shorter.

I liked the way that the areas that you went into had one great level to them, broken up only by doors and stairs, and elevators, just like real life. The loading times were few and far between. Good stuff.

Between the activation issues, SecuROM, tallscreen support, and a walk/run key...

You make it sound like tallscreen support is a BAD thing.

Don't be hating on the positive aspects of the game!

Carry on...

Cheers Drexion :) that clears that up, I guess for some reason it's suddenly become more noticeable on my machine with the fov hack.. weird hu? Well, no-one else has said anything about it so must just be me! lol

No, not weird at all. If you are using a larger FOV, your graphics card has to work harder, higher loads tend to slow things like framerate down, and probably makes the texture popping more noticible.

Which is probably the true reason for the vert- with this game ... optimizing for the 360 ... and I think they just thought no one would notice ...
On top of that "seems" the games engine is by default vert- ... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/8056t=0

I heard the interview with 2k games on the latest PC Gamer podcast.

It's hard to believe I like the game so much and at the same time hearing its creator talk makes me wanna slap people...

Reading Kevin's interview made me happy I never bought System Shock series.

Aesthetic reasons my ass.

Take that back!

The System Shock series is as good as gaming gets, my personal favourite of all time.

Yeah, I noticed a 0-2 fps drop on my 8800GTX

You need to crank up something then :)
Your 8800 GTX is such a beast it isn't even noticing the extra load on it. What resolution do you game at?

Haha, they can't handle the... Ok, I won't lol.

This whole Bioshock (and soon to be Airborne) WS debacle has spurred me to sign up for the forum here (long time reader).

A problem with my keyboard and the hor+ hack

Post by texasphile »

Hello folks,

Well I read through the 28 pages of this thread and I would like some help...if possible. I read through the pages, but didn't see a solution to my problem.

First Time Caller!

I have a Z-Board Mercs keyboard and I cannot get the */-+ keys to work. I have tried switching back to my old Thermaltake, but it no longer works (which is why I replaced it). I have reloaded the hack twice, but it doesn't seem to work. I tried re-booting and turning off the Number Lock. I thought about un-installing and then re-installing the entire game, but I don't want to hit the "we won't let you install our software too many times" wall. Is there a work around or is there something that I am doing incorrectly?

I have tried to activate it when exiting the ocean. I tried waiting and then attempting to activate it right before the bathysphere. I tried waiting until I picked up the wrench. I did each one as a new game, but each time I had the same results. I have included possibly pertinent specifications below.

Thanks,
Chris

My system:
AMD X2 3800+
XP Pro
2GB RAM
nVidia MSI 8800GTS 640MB
400GB hard drive
80GB hard drive
Audigy 2 ZS gamer sound card
A Z-Board Merc edition USB keyboard
Logitech MX 518-mouse

texasphile ... welcome tho the forum ... 8)

Unfortunately I have no idea why the keys are not working for you ...
Very strange ...

Sorry that isn't any help ... all I could suggest is try changing your keyboard ... but you have thought of that yourself.
