[quote]Any screen shots Hayden?

Blur appears to get increased when FOV increases.

That is some great stuff.
I cannot wait to play the game in 5670 x 1200.
I don't see this jittering anyway, so I can live with anything you have to offer.

Thanks again.

I am also looking forward to some kind of fix for this horrible FOV.
Im playing on a single screen (1680x1050) and after just 20 minutes of playing im starting to feel dizzy and cross eyed almost, i cant express how angry these lazy console ports make me, how can any developer think this low a FOV is a good idea....

Anyway, Thank you so much to all you guys which are working on providing us all with some kind of fix, or at least trying to :)
Keep up the awesome work.

[quote]Hello everyone, Can some post up the their file that they configured for Fear 3? Because I am lost when it comes to reading Hex.

I would just wait for HaYDen to complete his work.
The Hex Edit works but looks like shit and the game is unplayable, due to the FOV not being configurable unless youre HaYDen and know what you're doing.

Patience my brother.

If you are really wanting to do this, the file pathway is posted on page one of this thread.......C:users/your name/appdata/roaming/FEAR3/day1studio/settings.
Download a HexEditor.
Open settings with editor
Change 4A,4B,4E,4F to match your resolution.A&B are width, E&F are height. Remember they are reversed.
Hex 5760 = 1608 = 08 16
Hex 1200 = 04B0 = B0 04

Ok I will wait to play fear 3 a bit longer. I can find the file easy enough, but the 4a,4b,4e,4f is like speaking Swahili to me.... And thank you for the update

[quote]So what would be an acceptable solution according to you :?: Any way this file has to be edited ...

Sorry I didn't mean for my comment to be negative towards the work performed already (in fact that's the only way at the moment) - all I was saying is there's some issues with it, like it locking the mouse to 1920x1080 bounds.

Yeah no pb mate.

Thank you gentlemen for your work so far.
K4SH.........I got the editing to give me triple screen, but I very much agree.....the FOV is SO bad, you can't play. I also have found that if I quit out, my program defaults back to the single screen 1920 x 1200?

Hayden.........thanks alot for working on this. I find the game to be fun, but the single screen is god-awful amd the FOV even on single screen is nauseating.

Thanks guys. Hope you can iron this out.
My hats off to you.

I did not encounter such an issue.
If you try to modify some options in game then maybe the game will reset some of the options like the screen resolution.
If you still have this issue without modifying anything then try to write protect your setting file.

BTW which editions of the game the hack that's being worked on will be compatible with?
Do we have to pick just one? Will it be Steam or retail or alternate edition?

It isn't "ours". HaYDeN is kind enough to work on a solution, I'm willing to wait.

Well, there's some news on the official forums. One of the devs replied to the post requesting Triple wide.

Pending approval, this will happen. FEAR 3 needs to be experienced in ultra-wide screen. We can always sleep in July.

I'm currently heavily re-designing the core mechanics of how flawless widescreen functions... I won't be releasing any further fixes on the old framework. [although all existing items will be transferred]

Might need to wait for studio to fix it on this one.

Take a look at day1_coder's comment on the forums: http://www.fearfans.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17784

They are pending approval. Not sure what that means (maybe the dev's team lead needs to get an approval from...someone?), but they are well aware of the problem it appears.

Just updated. Better support for Widescreen monitors, and a config file that can be edited for wider FOV and for reducing or disabling Motion blur. :)

This is the list of options in the options.cfg

# Force D3D 9 instead of D3D 11. If you are having graphics-related problems under Vista or Windows 7,
# switching to Direct3D 9 may provide greater stability.
#-d3d9

# Specify a 0-based index to force D3D to use a particular video card when more than one is available.
#-d3dadapter:0

# Specify a preferred refresh rate when selecting full-screen modes. Otherwise the desktop refresh rate is preferred.
#-preferrefreshrate:50

# Explicitly prefer progressive video modes. Otherwise it is driver's choice.
#-preferprogressive

# Explicitly prefer unstretched video modes. Otherwise it is driver's choice.
#-preferunstretched

# Explicitly prefer stretched video modes. Otherwise it is driver's choice.
#-preferstretched

# This may expand the list of full-screen resolutions supported by some video cards
#-forcergbamode

# Override FOV for narrow aspect ratio displays. Range 65 (narrow) to 85 (wide).
-fov:75

# Override motion blur intensity: 0.0 (off) to 1.0 (full)
-motionblurscale:0.3

# Disable automatic detection and use of Steam's push-to-talk settings for voice chat

The patch allows for Eyefinity and surround resolutions and the FOV set by defualt was good enough for me. This game is excellent in surround. Although, it does require a ton of juice to run it. I am running an older Nvidia driver for my 3D surround, but I'm only getting 45-55 fps at 5760x1080.

Yeah, I'm getting the same FPS at that res with my 3 gtx480's. But with GPU usage at only 60% on them.

I think it's maybe drivers? I mean if I enable the 2x or 4x AA, my FPS tanks to the 20's, but GPU usage stays at 60%, and VRAM is still not full at any point either... so it seems the drivers or game aren't really optimised for scaling with multi GPU very much.

The console port strikes again. -_-
