Can't get the Flawless fix to work with mine.

It just works during the intro credit splash screens then as soon as I "hit enter" the fix disables and I'm stuck with that pillar in the middle view.

I have the Origin download version, but I found one of those cracks you mentioned and applied it to my game, but still no worky.

Try removing the config files in C:UsersVincentDocumentsMy GamesAlice Madness ReturnsAliceGameConfig
If it doesn't work.. remove the config files and reinstall alice all together.

It worked for me :).

Thanks Hayden works great!

I have the complete collection and I didn't bother applying your fix straight to that as I didn't want to have to deal with other problems so I just applied the crack and ran your fix with FOV set to +7 with my bezel corrected res of 6036 x 1080.

I did however have the problem of the resolution going back to the pillar on the left screen when the main menu hit and I tried setting the second resX value to 6036 in the .ini file however this did not fix it and I had to navigate blindly to set the resolution in game to 6036 x 1080.

Is everyone else having the problem where the game just freezes for a few seconds at random times? I have crossfired 6950s and I was getting bad lag in battles but i turned to physX to low and that seems to be fixed, however I still get this random freeze every now and then, happens even when nothing intensive is going on, very annoying.

Also what does post processing do in this game? When I turn it off my frames go up, and the only difference I can really see from having it on is that everything becomes brighter and more colorful. I think I prefer having it off as you get a more dark and ominous look from the game which is similar to the original.

Also I have noticed that the lock on icon does not hover above the target when in 6036 x 1080 res, not a real big issue, anyone else getting this? The lock system is horrible and clunky and doesn't work properly half the time, trying to avoid using it.

Overall this is a great game, just wish they had optimized the lock on mechanics better before releasing.

If anyone knows how to fix the freezing please share! I have my maxsmoothframerate set to 60 and vsync set to false, with d3doverrider forcing vsync instead, this results in high frame rates with no tearing, just gotta fix this random couple of second freezing I am getting...

Thanks again Hayden!!

Thank you so much! :cheers

Any chance of taking a look at the original "American McGee's Alice"? It could sure use a proper widescreen/surround fix, especially the HUD.

So how is the game, anyway? Certainly looks neat, but it also kinda looks like it may get boring after a while.. and too easy.

I would suggest to check some reviews ;)
Personally I like the simplicity in movement because I'm not that good with an xbox controller :D, the fights can be quite hard though.

I am also having the random freezes (1-5 seconds) then back to normal. Also noticed that PhysX is not working as well as it should along with poor gpu usage (19%, 14%, 15%) across all three cards and fps dropping (down to 14fps) because of it.

I have the SLi profile, but am unsure why this is all happening.

Try renaming "PhysXDevice.dll" to "PhysXDevice.bak" in your "...alice madness returnsBinariesWin32" folder.

This effectively forces the game to use the installed version of PhysX rather than the one included with the game. You might recognize this fix if you've ever dealt with hardware PhysX in Mirrors Edge :wink:

I'm having problems with the game freezing while at the loading screen ie. the one with the oscillating key chain. Eventhough i turned off the AA setting inside the game, I constantly get the red sign indicating the AA has been changed to 2xAA because of not having enough video memory. It says to either turn off 3D or surround. I guess this might be why the game freezes.

Yeah running out of VRAM would cause some nice stuttering.

There is no possible way that I'm running out of VRAM with 3GB. The highest VRAM usage I've seen yet is 1283MB.

Just played the game for about an hour and it appears the 5 second freeze problem has disappeared, I did nothing more to the config files, the only thing I did was restart my computer so I would guess the freezing problem is a CPU thing, if you are having this problem try a restart.

The only problem I am having now (apart from the horrible buggy lock on system) is I cant run with post processing on without getting hit with a massive drop in FPS, again this must be CPU limited as 2 x 6950s should be able to handle this.

At this point I think I am happy enough with it to sit down and finally play this properly in eyefinity glory, I just hope I dont run into any of these game play bugs a lot of people are experiencing that doesn't allow you to progress :s

Thanks Hayden

Ok I am a bit confused on how to get Alice to span... I did the INI file hack and it did not work.

Unfortunately, SLI doesn't work that way. Each card needs the same data in its own local memory in order for SLI to work, which means if card #1 loads in 500MB of data, then card #2 and card #3 load in exactly the same 500MB of data.

In effect, you only have 1GB of usable video RAM, not 3GB. Seeing 1283MB of video RAM usage would mean you've run out of video RAM and are swapping in and out of system RAM

true. every single card has got all the textures in their own video-ram, they can't share/combine the memory.

I've got a 6950 2gb (5760x1080) + i5-760 and get no stuttering with AA. Also I did apply the fps fixes. and Physx is on low (Mafia 2 physx was a real killer for me).

C:UsersUserNameDocumentsMy GamesAlice Madness ReturnsAliceGameConfigAliceEngine.ini

bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE (2x in the file!)
MinSmoothedFrameRate=22 (2x in the file!)
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=60 (2x in the file!)
==> change to read-only

But i would think the stuttering is more due to physx..?

I'm doing ok with a single HD5850 at 5040x1050, haven't tried turning on AA yet.

I've got PhysX turned all the way up and I'm not getting any undue stuttering... but then, I have a GTX260 installed in the slot below my HD5850, acting as a dedicated PhysX card :mrgreen:

Makes a big difference.. when I turn on physics it sometimes drops from a steady 60 to 25 when a lot of physx effects are displayed. (and there are quite a lot of effects in this game that depend on physx)

Question how you configure the nvidia card to be a dedicated physx on a ATI vid system?

:searchplease http://www.google.com/#q=how+to+configure+dedicated+physx+ati ==> http://www.overclock.net/graphics-cards-general/508305-howto-ati-nvidia-physx-guide.html

you do need a pretty decent card as illustrated by these benchmarks: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/nvidia-physx-hack-amd-radeon,2764-8.html

I run with 2 6970's @ 950/1450, on a core i7 970 @ 4.2 Ghz, also have a 450GTX available. and thank you for the links. ok Do I need to have a fourth monitor? or can I disconnect it? All I have is 3 monitors available one of which has 3 different inputs. As far as Alice trying to get it spanned has not been an easy task I may have to reinstall the game and go from there...
