Wow that made me excited for 5x1P again. Idk what i should do monitor wise. I like my 30"rs but i liked having 5x1P 23"rs more. Except for them being TN of course.

Ibrin, you finally made me register. I have been following your setup for some time and am about ready to debut a 5 screen 2408wfp Portrait setup similar to yours.

I was able to get the 5x1 to show up as a display group, but every time my computer goes to sleep it returns with one active display and everything scrunched up. Each time I have to go through the process of creating the group, organizing the screens, and enabling bezel management. Does this happen to you?

Currently I am running off of one sapphire 5970e6 with one in the mail for the last two weeks(an [H] member is about to be charged back...) using two DP to DVI and three DP cables. Dunno what else would help troubleshoot this or if I just need to set up profiles and live with it...

PS: Why is it I can't get any black mini-DP to DP cables? I blame Apple...

To follow up, going to miniDP to DP 10 ft cables fixed the issue of the CCC not remembering my profile and 5 screen portrait.

Am in heaven with my second 5870e6 coming in today!

ibrin, what was the width and depth needed for this setup? VERY interested in ditching the current 3x1L and switching over :)

Also, is there any eta on the stand yet? Or an alternate way of making this work (I suppose I could just use the included stands, but that seems like a lot of clutter).

Thanks!

Not sure if it was just me, but I fresh installed 11.1 and it didn't recognize 5x1P with my 5 Samsung 245BW. I uninstalled 11.1, then proceeded to install 10.12a which DID allow 5x1P. I think just installed 11.1 over 10.12a and now 11.1 sees 5x1? Odd...

Is there a hotfix for 5x1P in 11.1, because it's not an option for me? I installed 12.10a, but couldn't get 5x1 to work.

Make sure the OS sees all the displays as the same type. I had one display that was giving me available resolution issues until I forced the proper display inf on all 5 of the displays.

My desktop isn't that well suited for 5x1P, so I scaled back to 3x1P + an extra landscape display for video. 5x1P seriously overwhelms your desktop space. I thought 3x1L was bad, not you've got the tall-ness of the grouping to deal with now too. My fifth display is being used by another computer until I work out the tabletop space and mounting needed to properly do 5x1P without making it ghetto. :)

Hopefully I can whip up a proper 5x1P VESA mount in the shop in the next few weeks. 5x1P 6000x1920 is really novel, but it's a lot of display to use. Makes me almost wish I could revert to 22" panels.

Are you using display port adaptors with those monitors?

Thanks,

Are you asking for width and depth of the whole thing - monitors and stand?

Using the standard PowerColor minidp to single-link dvi active adapters Newegg sells and a Powercolor Eyefinity 6 card. They work just fine with other Eyefinity groupings, so I'd say the issue isn't adapter related. I've done 3x1, 4x1 and a few other variations. 5x1 was a bit problematic though until I reverted back to 10.12a and then back to 11.1.

Yes, how big of a desk would I need to have it sit on, and not hang over the edges with the monitors you used in your benchmarks?

It will vary, based on the angle of your monitors. However, the stand base is 16" deep, though my setup is about 24" deep total. This is with the five segment bar I'm testing and a 22.5 degree angle between each monitor. This put it right at 52" wide.

When I had the middle three monitors almost flat (about a 12 degree angle), with a 35 degree angle on the outsides, it was closer to 60" wide. To be safe, I'd say you'd want 2' x 5' at a minimum for the area of the monitors.

Excellent, I have this desk. So it looks like I would be good to go. Just have to ditch my current setup and invest in the necessary stuff :)

I'm currently running an original 5870 with three 24" 1200x1900 monitors, one dell with display port and two with DVI. I want to run 5x1 profile.
So I ordered the Saphire 5870 eyefinity 6 off NewEgg, purchased 4 active display port adapters and two 24" DVI monitors. So I'll have four monitors
using the display port adapters and one using the regular display port. I hope it works.

With the 11.1 drivers out should I install the hotfix over those or use the older 10.12 drivers?

Thanks,

I tried to get the hotfix to work with 11.1 and 5x1 wasn't a configuration option for me. It seems like 5x1 would have been included in 11.1 since they supplied a hotfix in December just for it. Maybe it will be included in 11.2?

Are your 5870's Eyefinity 6 editions?

Yes, and I'm using 5x1, but it only works for me with 10.12 + hotfix.

Have you tried stacking the drivers? Like in stalling 10.12a then installing 11.1 (which is complete bs imho) then installing 11.2. Or just the Hotfix then 11.2.
