Yep 8) in sig.

I have to agree with you GitDat. This BS nVid are pulling is starting to wear really thin. If not for the fact that I decided to W/C my 480's and have spent the last 4 weeks researching it and buying parts and learning all about it, as best I could in that time, (claiming 0% expertise for those of you laughing at me now) I would have climbed the walls long ago waiting for them to release the drivers. Being an optimist, it would appear that there is only a max of 7 days left to wait before I can finally use them with out the matrox box.....FFS they better get it right.
Bit less SOL now..... :?
Back to subject at hand :)

[quote]One thing to mention unless your going to water cool your 3 GPUs you want to get a motherboard that puts at least one gap between the cards. The current cards heat up allot more if there no gap between the cards, this means it'll run its fan faster, so putting 4 back to back without water cooling will probably spin the fans up to an annoying level. The best option is to wait till they release a 2GPU card and get 4way SLI with two of them.
I saw Nvidia recommend this too, but can't remember where... :oops:
One important thing for others that read this thread, is that there IS single card support:
# Single card
* GeForce GTX 295
http://www.nvidia.com/object/3DV_System_Requirements_Surround_Technology.html
So if there will be a 2 GPU card with GT100 or 104 chip, it will probably support Nvidia surround as single card solution. :)
Seems that Nvidia has updated their system requirements page and now the GTX295 isn't listed as supported at all:
# GPU support (NVIDIA SLI or multi-GPU cards are required)
* SLI configurations
o GeForce GTX 480, 470, 285, 280, 275, 260
