[quote][quote]Speaking of the new update, what is the frequency in Hz that the new resolutions are at? I think it would be helpful to know so we don't accidentally buy a monitor that doesn't support it.
57 Hz for 1440x900 and 5040x1050.
Well, now that I know it's 57 Hz... how would I go about setting that?
(4870 X2, Catalyst Control Center, Vista 64-bit)
Did you ever figure that out? I have the same card as you and I'm interested in buying 3WS monitors next year, but only if the 4870 X2 supports 3x1680x1050

You can flash the old unit, as long as it's the digital version.

57 Hz for 1440x900 and 5040x1050.That's not quite right ... it is 60Hz for 3 x 1440x900 ...

That is great news! Got 3 x 24" Samsungs (in boxes in my office), a couple of SLI'ed 8800's and a new PC waiting to go. It is a digital unit. Glad Matrox is supporting the product and making it better. All I need now is the time to do all this. Thanks for replying. BTW: Hey Paddy, nice to see you!

EDIT:
After viewing the forum a little bit more, I now realize that my questions below have been answered. Sorry!
......................................................................................................
Hello folks...
I have the DTH2GO and 3x22" Acer Monitors. Two of the monitors are exactly the same (Acer AL2216W) and the third one is an Acer 2223W.
Here are the problems I am having on my dual-boot (XP Pro 32bit/ Vista Ulimate 64bit)...
When in XP Pro, I am only able to go to 1440x900. When I try to go to 1680x1050 only the Acer 2223W will display. The other 2 display a blank screen... although the LED light on each stays green.
I can however "force" 1680x1050 by using the nVidia Control Panel, by changing the resolution to 60Hz from 57Hz. This does not result in the desired effect, as the desktop is larger than the display area, and the Matrox PowerDesk SE no longer controls the displays.
This leads me to believe that the two AL2216Ws don't like 57Hz.
When in Vista, the "new" widescreen modes don't even show up when viewing display modes for TripleHead. They do show up when switching to DualHead view mode however.
Any thoughts/help/etc. would be much appreciated!

I have the same problem.
Just upgraded my 17" monitors to 22" when I saw that 1680x1050 was supported. Upgraded the Th2go and installed the latest drivers.
Can't find the 1680x1050 resolution.
When enabling the loggin in the GXM I get the following:
Code: Select all
[2008-11-27 - 23:13:19] [Matrox.GXM.dll] Gxm2::Initialize : Log Enabled for GXM2.
[2008-11-27 - 23:13:22] [Matrox.GXM.dll] DisplayFinder::FindWithWhitePatternGDI : Gxm Found on display 2.
[2008-11-27 - 23:13:22] [Matrox.GXM.dll] LowLevelUnit::InstallMonitorInf : The calling application is a 32-bit application attempting to execute in a 64-bit environment, which is not allowed..

[2008-11-27 - 23:15:50] [Matrox.GXM.dll] DisplayFinder::HaveDisplayBeenAttachedOrDetached : Display(s) have been attached or detached. Re-detection required..
[2008-11-27 - 23:15:51] [Matrox.GXM.dll] DisplayFinder::FindWithWhitePatternGDI : Gxm Found on display 2.
To me the lines about LowLevelUnit::InstallMonitorInf are interesting.
I guess this is due to the fact that the driver is 32 bit while i'm running Vista Business 64.
I have opened a case against Matrox but they haven't yet responded to the question whether or not the driver should work in Vista 64.
Is there anyone who has been able to run 1680x1050 under a 64-bit OS?
I have a 8800 GTX and 3 Samsung 2243bw.
I appreciate all help on this matter!

I solved it :)
I rolled back the Nvidia driver to version 175.19 and now the resolution is there.
I found another forumthread about the Nvidia drivers and Matrox seem to be aware of the problem so hopefully there will be a solution soon.

Hello folks, I’ve updated my TH2G – (digital) to the drivers/GXM and now my center monitor is not the primary monitor. When I go to a single screen game the left monitor is primary.
Can anyone tell me how to correct this please? Last time I had to have Matrox tech support intervene and login remotely to correct. I’m sure it’s easier now right?

Right :) In the new GXM you can
-swap displays until your active single screen is the one you want.
-save your current display config (centered single screen, TripleHead, DualHead...) as a profile.
-assign a hotkey for switching between saved profiles.

Wow, I was using this function to try and swap displays while all three monitors were active in 1650X1080...LOL.
Thanks for the hint and Thank You Paddy for the step-by-step info, works Perfect. Thanks Matrox for finally getting my TH2G corrected. Never did the GXM software work with out crashing before now.
Awesome...!
One last point, maybe I need to post somewhere else... in my favorite games GTR2/GTRevo when in 3X1650X1080 the cars are not properly proportional, not for me anyway. The tracks and cars are much to narrow for whatever reason, they actually are more compacted.
Never ran any FPS games yet.
Thanks again'

I've been reading the Matrox Compatibility
Website and it says "5040x1050 (3x 1680x1050) resolution is available under Windows XP, and under Windows Vista with Nvidia 182 or older driver. Under Windows Vista with the 185 driver the maximum supported resolution is 4320x900 (3x 1440x900)."
Any updates on this? Why is this happening?

After so many tries and updates, I've finally struggled through various micro option changes and now am stable at 5040x1050.
3x Samsung 2433BWs (24" Monitors)
2x GeForce 285's 2gb in SLI
Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Nvidia 195.62
Power Desk 2.06.00
TH2Go Firmware 2.3.40.t6.56
Step One:
Save backup of TH2Go Firmware
Update TH2Go Firmware to 2.3.40.t6.56
Did this even though I've done it before
Step Two:
Uninstall all Matrox PowerDesk and Nvidia Drivers
Step Three:
Restart machine
On start up, Windows 7 detected GeForce cards installed old generic Nvidia drivers
Step Four:
Install Nvidia 195.62 drivers
Step Five:
Restart machine
Step Six:
Open Nvidia Control Panel and set SLI mode (you may not need to do this if you have a single video card)
Step Seven:
Install Matrox PowerDesk 2.06.00
Step Eight:
Restart machine
Step Nine:
Allow PowerDesk to detect settings
Step Ten:
Restart machine
Step Eleven:
Open Nvidia Control Panel and Add New Resolution
Horizontal pixels: 5040
Vertical pixels: 1050
Refresh rate (Hz): 58
Color depth (bpp): 32
Scan type: Progressive
Timing -
Standard: Manual
Active pixels: Horizontal - 5040 Vertical - 1050
Front porch: Horizontal - 16 Vertical - 3
Sync width: Horizontal - 16 Vertical - 10
Total pixels: Horizontal - 5152 Vertical - 1080
Polarity: Horizontal - Negative (-) Vertical - Positive (+)
Refresh rate: Horizontal - 64.26 KHz Vertical - 57.500 Hz (I started at 59.000 and went down .500 at a time until I got to 57.500 and it worked)
Test passed
Step Twelve:
Set resolution in Nvidia Control Panel to new 5040x1050 resolution
Step Thirteen:
Access DeviceInfo.ini in Matrol Graphics folder (default C:Program FilesMatrox GraphicsPowerDeskDeviceInfo.ini)
Perform Search for Name=CUST
Added bak3 to end of each found line (there were approximately 20 entries of Name=CUST_MODE or Name=CustomDisplay)
Save ini file
Step Fourteen:
Restart machine
Done! PowerDesk did not ask to be restarted again and did not overwrite the Windows Customer Resolution files. Aero features work fine. PowerDesk features work fine.
AT LAST!!!
Your results may vary based on equipment; but I hope this helps at least one person out there with a similar setup. It took me 2.5 hours to figure out, but I'm glad I was patient and worked through it.

Great Info
Thanks for the help...and it seems I'm almost there...please help (see below)
I did try this by just going to the nVidia panel and setting up a custom resolution at 5040 x 1050 and I had to use 59.500 for the refresh rate. It passed and I was happy :D
Then I rebooted and WAMMO, Powerdesk says that the new display needs to be restarted...so I restart and it then re-sets the resolution to 4080 x 768 Auuuuugh :oops:
So I figured I'd follow ALL of your instructions (instead of just one part) and then I came on a problem. In step 13 you say to edit your Deskinfo.ini file
I don't have one!
I have a DeviceInfo.ini file the directory you listed. (I'm also running Vista 64 with a single nVidia GTX295)
When I look at the DeviceInfo.ini file, there are several places with the line:
Name=CUST but it looks like below (I have 21 of them)
Action=Write
Name=CUST_MODE
Value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
Do I change it from this?
Name=CUST_Mode
to this
Name=CUST_ModeBak3
Wondering if I'm also missing the Deskinfo.ini file
:?
Thanks for all the help

Do I change it from this?
Name=CUST_Mode

Name=CUST_ModeBak3
Yes, but be sure to get all of the Name=CUST_MODE and Name=CustomDisplay listings. I said to search for 'Name=CUST' because it should catch and cycle through both.
