The FOV hack works with the full version ... :D
Performance ... hmmm ...
DX10 isn't worth it ... imho ... don't really get much extra for the loss in fps ...
It is also slower in vista for me ... and the vista drivers are unstable for me ... dunno if it is my vista or not ... think I might have some problems.
So I have been playing in XP and it is fine everything at max ... haven't been watching the fps much but it seems fine ... at a guess 40-60 fps with the 163.44 beta drivers.
It is good ... I'm really enjoying it ... just got the shock of my life ... lol ... jumped out of skin ...

FiringSquad has a good article about DX9 vs. DX10 performance and visuals:
http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/bioshock_directx10_performance/
They conclude that performance is about the same and the visuals are difficult to *generally* distinguish. However... they have a few good screen shots that demonstrate how DX10 softens the edges around particle effects; one thing that I do find a bit distracting visually in games.
I only have 7800's.... so I can't run DX10.... but it might be a nice addition visually due to the large amounts of smoke and fog in the game.

thats great for such a new game at this high resolution :)
The issue with bioshock according to computerbase is that SLI (only tested with gf7) is a bad fps experience because of stottering, lagging and slowdowns.

according to a german forum there are different opinions to this issue.

**** POSSIBLE SPOILER ****
Did it have anything to do with a particular dentist room and fog?
If you know what part I'm talking about - I about fell out of my chair. Playing this game at night with headphones or good sound, all the lights off - can really get the blood pumping with certain parts.

Yes ... :lol:I know the exact part that you guys are talking about, and I absolutely BRICKED it! My stomach went all funny, and my hands scrabbled on the mouse and keyboard, respectively.
I haven't jumped like that for a long time.

Has 2k games released their own patch yet to fix the fov problem? I can't get over how well this game runs with everything maxed at 3840x1024. FEAR doesn't even come close to looking or running this good and it's 2 years old. Skills.

No patch yet ...
BTW ... Fear maxed out ... with the same AA I use in Bioshock ... runs at nearly twice the FPS for me.

That's weird. FEAR has never run good at 3840 for me on any machine I have tried it with. I had to run it at 3072 to get acceptable frames.
New User Help?
Hi,
Hope you can help a Noob out here as I've only just got my triplehead.
I've downloaded the latest app from Racer_S and run the application but I'm not sure what its actually doing all it seems to do is create a config file? Does this need to be placed somewhere and what values should the sliders be set to in the app?
I am running three 1280 x 1024 displays for a total screen size of 3840 x 1024
Any help would be great :)

Hi Rees ... welcome to the forum ... 8)
Just run the app ... set the sliders to ...
Width FOV: 0.37
Height FOV: 0.37
Leave the app running ... enter the game ... press the * key on your numpad to enable the FOV.
That's it ... play the game with the correct FOV for TH.
8)
BTW ...
The instructions on how to work the app are on the app ...
The settings for the app are in the first post ...
Oh and ... the App can be anywhere on your system ... the config needs to be in the same place as the app.

And what about HUD. Can we bring it on centre monitor?

Sorry to necro the thread, but I second this question.
Also - just as a note for others looking for Bioshock solutions, to run it in wide-Triplehead resolutions (4320x900, 5040x1080 etc.), you need to add "-dx9" to the start target. It's probably posted elsewhere in this thread, but I just had to go searching far and wide for that tidbit so I thought it should be mentioned.
