Here's something I've always wondered... why do we even need to install games? Since most games require the CD to be in the tray, what's the point? Is it supposed to reduce load times?

Whom to blame? The average you and me. The PC gamer that is too cool and too clever to pay for a game and insists on either buying an illegal copy at a fraction of the cost, or download a warez version. That's who to blame for the increasing drm in games.

Think of how many people you know, even if not yourself, that have not paid for one or more of their games. It's all their fault too.

Now Steam up, or online activate or whatever.

For those that have the game. How many hours does one need to complete the game? Is there any replayability there?

The game is installed entirely on your HDD.

The CD in the tray is the game verifying that you have a retail copy of the game by checking the security sectors on the DVD/CD. It's just copy protection.

You're not very nice......... <_< :?

Let's see, whom does drm/cd protection hinder?

Joe 6packs who wouldn't know a cd from a dvd and wouldn't even remotely know where to find a no-cd .exe or virtual cd-image if his life depended on it.

or

The average cracker/pirate/whatever that has a no-cd or image ready to go often weeks before the game even hits the stands.

My bet's on the first, what's yours?

As far as I'm concerned anyone thinking the second has a lot in common with an ostrich wing deep with it's head in the sand.

Are you kidding me? This game incorporates the decision to murder ten year old girls so you can turn into a superhuman killing machine.

That's right... the little girls in the game have this "juice" that if you slay them or cure them of thier disease you are rewarded determined on whether you killed or saved them.

OMG.... i see parents screaming on this. Hope this game has a mature rating

Im going to enjoy it very much so.

The "little sisters" remind me very much of the girls that i hate in F.E.A.R and The Grudge and i dont mind blowing their brains out.

Perhaps emailing it to me?

Let's say you are an executive for a game company or publisher. You have two options, either enforce more strict ways to counter piracy, even though a lot of people will still manage to warez it, or leave it with minimall or no copy protection and try to explain to the board why your game is being pirated. At least with the first you have your ass covered.

I didn't say I am in favour of copy protection, it annoys me as well. But, it is the only way to at least slow down jackasses that all/mostly do is play illegal copies of the games. Plus it combats pirating from clueless people.

So, yes, copy protection is there because of piracy, either you like it or not.

I guess someone with there location set as "Your Mom.". You can't really expect maturity.
Please don't be mean to people....

Back on topic, I guess I'll have to give the PC demo a go. :D

There's a guy ... Frunk ... on the 2K forums that has somehow unlocked the demo and posted some screenshots ...
He says he is running ...
All settings as high as I can set them, DX10, 1440x900

30-60fps constant

Pentium-D 3.00
2GB RAM
8800GTS 320mb

which is pretty good for a GTS 320 and a pentium D

Link ... http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?p=108859#post108859

One of his shots ...

UHU!

No my crunchy-green-sweet-seededcore-fruit person, try THIS link:

http://www.xtrempc.ro/modules.php?name=Downloads&d_op=viewdownloaddetails&lid=2338

Your welcome in advance.

EDIT: Apparently its a slow link.

EDIT2: Yes, it is WAY to slow, at this rate I will have the demo after the 1st patch is released.

The fileplanet download link is a dud.

Anyone else?
